Standard Anti-Israeli Rhetoric

From the dozens of sanctimonious articles I have collected condemning Israel’s slaughter of innocent Palestinians, I shall use an opinion piece from The Hamilton Spectator of May 30 to exemplify their superficiality. Entitled “It’s past time Israel listened to the world,” its thesis is perhaps beat revealed in the following 2 sentences: “Justice, peace and security cannot be achieved through more violence in Rafah. They can be achieved only through a negotiated solution in which all can be free and secure side by side in the region.”

Over the last couple of decades, the Jews have repeatedly proposed such solutions which were clearly not acceptable to Hamas. That Arabs living within Israel are granted their democratic rights without prejudice, suggests the Jews are not driven by racist considerations. They are, however, familiar with their history, with the fact that Hamas cannot be trusted, that its loathing for them will inevitably lead to future unjustified attacks resulting in the deaths of the innocent. But History is apparently of no significance to the genius responsible for this article. Hence the following declaration: “Nothing done in the past, no matter how awful, can exempt Israel, its allies or its enemies from the standards of human rights.”

So the Past, i.e. History, ought not to be a deterrent to Israel’s willingness to make peace with those who seem to want to destroy them. Apparently the fact that neither Hamas, Hezbollah or indeed Iran have given any evidence that they can be trusted, should in no way preempt the Jews devotion to “human rights.” The logic of the article in question, then, is that the Israelis ought to be willing to sacrifice the lives of their own citizens who will no doubt be slaughtered in future unprovoked attacks, out of empathy for innocent Palestinians presently being killed due to the cowardly, cynical machinations of their own degenerate rulers.

My questions are as follows: Why is the “liberal” press not rife with articles condemning Muslim Fundamentalism? Why are nations such as Iran not constantly vilified for their treatment of women, gays, non-Muslims, etc.? Is not the Left’s obsession with Identity Politics which renders it reluctant to criticize those of other ethnic and cultural backgrounds, no matter how vile their behavior, utterly superficial, both morally and intellectually? Is not the opinion piece cited above typical of that superficiality in that it blames Israel for the tragic results of a conflict clearly caused by the degenerate, racist machinations of its enemies?
