Google the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and you will be confronted by dozens of articles repudiating Donald Trump’s claim that, far from attempting to overthrow the U.S. government, he had actually recommended calling in support from the National Guard to maintain order on the day in question. A 2021 article in The Washington Post stated categorically that Trump was lying! Bill Maher has repeatedly called him a power hungry criminal. However the more recent committee led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, assigned to investigate the findings of the house committee which found Trump guilty of promoting insurrection, has proven its indictment to be utter nonsense.
Several National Guard whistleblowers have now testified that their superiors were in fact asked to deploy them on Jan. 6. No longer able to support the lies promoted by House Speaker Pelosi, General Mark Milley, former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has admitted that on Jan. 3, three days before the supposed insurrection, Trump had in fact suggested using the National Guard to keep the peace. In summarizing his committee’s findings, Chairman Loudermilk stated succinctly: “President Trump met with senior Pentagon leaders and directed them to make sure any events on Jan. 6, 2021, were safe. It is very concerning that these senior Pentagon officials ignored President Trump’s guidance.”
I have before me a Sept. 13 article written by one Donald E. Abelson and published in my local Hamilton newspaper, which candidly admits that Kamala Harris is a deeply flawed presidential candidate, many of whose policies have proven to be inane. Yet it insists that no American ought to vote for Trump because he is the incarnation of Evil itself. It is a classic piece of Leftist drivel in that it forgoes rational discussion of the Values and Ideas of the candidates in question and resorts to mere hateful rhetoric.
But I ask you, while Trump is typically characterized as a threat to Democracy, what would you say motivated Biden, Pelosi and company to lie for 3 full years about the fact that he had honestly tried to keep the protests of Jan. 6 from getting out of hand? Were they not motivated by a lust for Power based on the arrogant assumption that they are always right about everything? Indeed is this not the inherently dictatorial mind-set of the contemporary Left?
As I have said in multiple blogs, Donald Trump hardly fits my definition of an ideal democratic leader. Yet the Values and Ideas he represents are significantly more rational than the sentimental inanities espoused by the Left. Hence its tendency to avoid any actual discussion of substance by simply focusing on his personal flaws. Hence the mainstream media’s relentless references to Trump as a power-mad threat to America’s Democracy, even as it lied and lied and lied about the Facts of Jan. 6! You tell me, as public access to the Truth would seem to be essential to the health of any functioning Democracy, who is the greater threat to our Rights and Freedoms, Donald Trump or those who will do anything to keep him out of power?
An oh, by the way, Trump’s assertions that the 2020 election was stolen from him are not, as I have pointed out in previous blogs, without merit. The media’s suppression of the Hunter Biden scandal in the days before the election clearly affected its outcome. So also the ludicrously slack voting protocols justified as responses to Covid 19! This is but to say that the protest of Jan. 6, 2021, had far more legitimacy than the destructive rampages of Black Lives Matter which, in defense of a career criminal, destroyed over 2 billion dollars worth of property in 2021. You’d never guess this, of course, given the brazenly biased nonsense spewed by the Left and its media sycophants.
