The Insane Distortions of the Mainstream Media!

On Sunday, Feb 16, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was invited to join Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation in a discussion of the Friday speech by J.D. Vance in Munich before the leaders of the European Union. Given that conservatives cherish certain traditional Western values utterly inconsistent with the D.E.I. worldview, Vance excoriated the Europeans for having allowed millions into their midst who pose a threat to those very values. He was of course referring primarily to Muslim fundamentalists whom Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey openly encouraged to Islamize the entire continent. Even more obnoxious to Vance, however, is the effort of many European Nations to stifle all criticisms of their open-border policies, their rationale of course being that such criticisms are rooted in Hatred rather than Reason. Yes, Vance had the audacity to defend Freedom of Speech! His assertion that disagreeing with an opinion does not give one the right to “cancel” it, was an endorsement of the Rational Humanist notion that Freedom of Speech is integral to the Process of continuing human enlightenment. It is a principle, of course, that assumes most men to be capable of distinguishing Reason from mere Bigotry and Hatred. But as the Elitist Left has nothing but disdain for those who do not shares its views, is indeed perfectly comfortable in “cancelling” anything with which it does not agree, it is, in spite of its claim to be a defender of Democracy, anti-Democratic to its very core. Margaret Brennan’s response to Marco Rubio’s defence of Freedom of Speech is a perfect example of the absurdity of the contemporary Left!

In denouncing conservatives, the Left constantly cites fanatics whose views have nothing to do with rational, mainstream conservatism. But as Brennan hosts the long-running Face the Nation on a major U.S. television network, her views can hardly be dismissed as the rantings of a peripheral fanatic. Unwilling to admit the tyrannical leanings of the contemporary Left, she attempts to counter Rubio by insisting that Hitler’s Nazis had in fact weaponized Free Speech in pursuing their genocidal agenda. Her insinuation, of course, is that Free Speech unleashes Hate Speech. Rubio counters with the facts. There was No Free Speech in Nazi Germany. The millions of Germans who did not share Hitler’s anti-semitism kept their mouths shut for fear of the repercussions. Brennan literally reverses the historical facts, ludicrously arguing in favour of staunch government censorship as a necessity in any healthy Democracy.

Boris Pistorius, then Defence Minister for Germany’s leftist Social Democratic Party, denounced Vance’s Munich speech, defending the European Union’s open borders and suggesting, in spite of massive evidence to the contrary, that there was no effort to stifle online, dissident opinion. Ironically, this past Sunday, the German electorate removed his party from office, placing the CDU/CSU, an alliance of Christian, conservative parties, in control of the country. What apparently led to this electoral shift was widespread discontent with the assault on Germany’s Traditional Cultural Values unleashed by the brain dead devotees of D.E.I.. I take no joy in mocking Margaret Brennan whose heart is no doubt in the right place, but her attempt to demonize Free Speech by associating it with Nazi Germany is a perfect example of the intellectual bankruptcy of a political perspective mired in mindless sentiment.
