You have just been elected President of a country exploding with problems within its urban ghettos. Decent jobs, schools and health care are unavailable to many there. Violence is out of control in major cities such as N.Y. and Chicago. A pandemic has compromised various aspects of ordinary life, imperiling the economy, swelling the ranks of the unemployed and over-burdening hospitals in certain parts of the country. And one of the first things you do upon taking office, by viciously denouncing the defensive measures pursued by Trump, is to implicitly invite all of South America to violate your southern border? How utterly stupid are Joe and Kamala not to have foreseen the chaos their posturing would create north of the Rio Grande? How far does compassion need to stray from Reason before it becomes a species of Dementia?
I am not being flippant in my use of such terms. A government elected by its citizens to defend their interests would seem eminently worthy of having its sanity questioned for pursuing policies that clearly threaten those interests. But of course those “progressive” voters comfortably settled in their Northern Ivory Towers hardly need worry about the impact of their “compassion” on the citizens of California, Arizona, New Mexico or Texas. The authorities in the latter, perhaps the State most affected by Biden’s dementia, have launched legal proceedings against him in an attempt to limit the damage his policies may unleash both upon their state’s economy and the health of its citizens.
Research the situation at the border and you will be assaulted with a variety of contradictory “facts”. The Biden administration gleefully published pictures of migrant kids playing soccer in a spacious Carrizo Springs detention center in Texas which, when a project of the Trump government, was harshly criticized by Democrats. Meanwhile when Ted Cruz and 18 fellow Republicans sought to document the situation at the Donna detention center on the Mexican border, they were deterred by a Biden representative who pleaded with them to respect the privacy of the young migrants. Criticized for his lack of transparency, Biden allowed access to a team of journalists on Mar. 30, just a few days later. What they discovered was a facility with a capacity of around 250, housing 4000, many of them children crammed like sardines into various pods.
The absurdity of the new government’s approach to immigration manifests itself day after day. Conditions at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio are a major focus of the suit launched by Texas. In one week in late March the number of kids consigned there went from approximately 500 to 1,370. Governor Greg Abbott declared the site “a health and safety nightmare.” Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said not only that it was under-staffed and lacking sufficient food but that while several detainees had come forward with claims of sexual abuse, kids who had tested positive for Covid were sleeping side by side with those who had not.
How worrisome is it that while Border Patrols apprehended approximately 100,000 asylum seekers in Feb., that number swelled to 172,000 in March? Biden has asserted that the vast majority of adults are simply turned away and that would seem to be true of 70% of those traveling alone, but of the 20,000 families who sought to enter the country in Feb., more than half were simply allowed to proceed. Meanwhile everyone under the age of 17, when not accompanied by an adult, is automatically accepted and held in custody for as many as three days before being sent to Health and Human Services which, if unable to find them private sponsors, places them in various foster homes. Granted this open-door policy, HHS has had over 47,000 children entrusted to its care already this year. With typical disregard for the truth, Biden has asserted that “nothing has changed,” that this surge in numbers occurs every year during the winter season. But NBC, hardly a Republican advocate, pointed out that while 2019 saw a 31% surge in the number of kids seeking entry to the States in Jan./Feb., 2021 has seen a 61% increase. And The Washington Post, again no agent of right-wing propaganda, declared this March to have been the busiest month at the border in two decades!
Stupidly impugning his assertion that “nothing has changed,” Biden blamed Trump’s cancellation of a 700 million dollar aid package to Central America for what he seemed to be admitting has been a radical increase in asylum seekers. But once again NBC proved him wrong, pointing out that the State Department had in fact re-instated most of that package in spite of the Trump government.
As distressing as are the human/logistical problems posed by the recent massive increase in asylum seekers, The Washington Post on April 2 cited the even greater danger of the approximately 1000 people a day gaining entry into the States utterly undetected by border officials. How many of these, one wonders, are members of those drug and human smuggling cartels so clearly responsible for much of the chaos, or perhaps actual Muslim fanatics seeking to exploit that chaos? In Jan. and Mar. two individuals from Yemen who were on the FBI’s Terrorism Watch List were in fact arrested trying to weasel their way into the country!
Just recently a letter signed by 275 sheriffs from 39 states was sent to Biden. It read in part: “You must act now before our nation’s public safety resources are overwhelmed with the criminal side effects of unchecked illegal immigration, including transnational gangs, guns, dangerous drugs and human trafficking.”
The flow of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, etc. from south of the border is a thriving industry, 83,000 kilos of such en route from Tijuana having been confiscated in San Diego alone in 2016. Aside from the millions of cars crossing annually between the two countries and the vast regions of unpatrolled wasteland that serve as on open invitation to smugglers, 170 tunnels built by cartels have been discovered since 1990! America is clearly at war with a powerful criminal industry which the Mexican government has failed to subdue. Yet while it is estimated human traffickers are clearing over 2 million dollars a year at the expense of the poor, the Biden administration has done nothing but make their lives easier. But oh, a new idiot has raised his hand, the Democratic governor of N.Y. having just announced a two billion dollar fund set aside specifically for those illegals able to make their way to his state! One wonders if Cuomo has had any communications from the families of the apparently 8,300 border officials who, in attempting to deal with the onslaught from the South, have tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently reported that “gaps” in Trump’s wall were about to be sealed. When Biden’s Press Secretary was asked to comment by a reporter who was clearly implying such a move would suggest there might in fact be some benefits to a wall, she launched into a spiel of double-talk unworthy of comment. The sheer disconnect of the Left from the pragmatic demands of the Real World is nowhere more evident than in its insistence that Trump’s Wall was an oppressive, racist abomination rather than merely one facet of a practical response to a very complex situation, a situation wherein Human Evil is a decidedly significant factor.
It is estimated there are between 10 and 12 million undocumented illegals already in the States. 1.2 million of them have officially been deported but have simply ignored the ruling which Biden says he in no way interested in enforcing. Of the 300,000 unattended kids granted admission since 2014, approximately half of them have still not been properly processed. Even before this recent Biden-induced upsurge, apparently, Immigration has been unable to keep up with its most fundamental of duties.
No doubt 99% of the undocumented, should they ever gain the right to vote, will vote Democrat. Is it the perpetuation of its Power that motivates that party or Compassion? Hmm!
An organization called The Federation for American Immigration Reform has issued a statement more or less reaffirming the concerns of the 275 sheriffs cited above. Research it and you will be bombarded with accusations that it is a fanatical, right-wing hate group opposed to immigration of any sort. While I have no idea of the validity of that charge, I can only say the statement I read simply asserted that an orderly, legally sanctioned immigration protocol was absolutely preferable to the border chaos induced by the current American government. If that make members of the Federation Neo-Nazi Haters, then I suppose Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are also such.
In his campaign to be re-elected in 1996, Bill Clinton asserted as follows: We cannot tolerate illegal immigration and we must stop it.
Of course the forgotten butts of Biden’s immigration joke are those who still respect the integrity America’s borders, those who duly submit themselves to the required protocols in becoming legal, voting and tax paying citizens of the USA.
A Senator from Illinois in 2005, Barack Obama would seem to have agreed, saying: We simply cannot allow people to pour into the U.S. undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.
Apparently, as recently as 15 years ago, the Democrats still had some respect for the benefits, both pragmatic and humane, of the Rule of Law!
