Compassion or Stupidity?

In December of last year Ibrahim Bouaichi was indicted and ultimately jailed without bond in Alexandria, Virginia, for the violent rape of Karla Dominguez, a beautiful young Venezuelan woman apparently without family in the States.

When Bouaichi’s lawyers argued that their client’s imprisonment left him unduly vulnerable to Corona 19, Judge Nolan Dawkins agreed to his release on April 9 on the condition that he not leave his home other than to see his lawyers. A “progressive” man of compassion, Dawkins apparently thought this sadistic bastard who had viciously sodomized and almost strangled Ms. Dominguez would never consider violating the terms of his release.

Our friendly Judge retired in June. On July 29 Bouaichi tracked down his accuser and shot her dead in front of her Alexandria home. Caught by the police on Aug. 5 in Maryland, he would take a gun to himself and ultimately die.

It’s easy to be “compassionate” when one is gambling with the lives of others! One wonders if “progressive” simpletons such as Dawkins would ever consider being as sympathetic to the “rights” of convicted criminals were they themselves to be held legally responsible for whatever crimes they might commit upon their early release. One wonders if those responsible for the deliverance of over 500 convicted Muslim terrorists back into the mainstream of British society would be quite so generous were they subject to lifelong imprisonment should any of them subsequently succeed in some terrorist venture. Usman Khan, convicted in 2012 of conspiring to blow up England’s Parliament buildings, succeeded in killing two innocent Cambridge grads near the London Bridge in 2019 because he had been deemed rehabilitated and hence released by his “progressive” advocates. No doubt they along with Judge Dawkins have had some sleepless nights as a result of their decisions. But they’re still alive while the victims of their absurd naivete are no longer with us.

The devastation wrought by naive Leftists who see themselves as the champions of compassion marks them as borderline insane. The neighbors of the two individuals responsible for the San Bernardino killing spree of 2015 had their suspicions but were loathe to report them lest they be labeled “racists.” Their reticence cost the lives of 14 human beings. Those responsible for the climate of political correctness cost the lives of 14 human beings. The oh-so-sensitive pundits of the Toronto Star and N.Y. Times cost the lives of 14 human beings! Obama’s deference to the “hurt feelings” of Muslims cost the lives of 14 human beings! This is not mere hyperbolic rhetoric. There is a demonstrable co-relation between the tyranny of “political correctness” and the fears of the neighbors of Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik to step forward and express their suspicions. Because they did not do so, 14 people are no longer residents of this planet. The Left’s sense of “compassion,” it would seem, highly if not insanely selective!
