If Richard Nixon could be forced out of office due to Watergate, Joe Biden should already have suffered the same fate due to the extremely questionable ethics of his involvement in his son Hunter’s equally questionable business pursuits.
Hunter Biden’s lucrative position on the board of Burisma, one of the Ukraine’s largest producers of natural gas, seems quite odd given that he had no expertise whatsoever in the energy sector. It began when his father was vice president. Meanwhile the millions Hunter made via his China connections were, according to an e-mail cited by the N.Y. Post, granted in exchange for his “introductions.” Trump’s accusation that Biden Sr. was clearly selling his influence were of course dismissed by the media as typical Trump B.S.; as was a report by Fox News, admittedly of a “conservative” bias, which said it had gained access to another e-mail from Hunter’s laptop stating that 10% of his profits were going to the “big guy.” But a number of individuals we have little reason to doubt have come forth in support of these accusations of corruption.
Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter, said it was obvious from his conversations with him that Biden Sr. was involved in and profiting from his son’s business enterprises. Former Treasury Special Agent John Cassara has said “The information available publicly is very worrisome…..It undermines full faith in the U.S. government……It is an embarrassment.” Similarly troubling was legal scholar Jonathan Turley’s assertion that there were several massive transfers of funds into the accounts of both Hunter and James Biden that seemed to warrant investigation.
This past July Judicial Watch, a “conservative” group, quickly amassed more than 300,000 signatures in an attempt to compel the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate the possible corruption of the entire Biden family. Oddly, The N.Y. Times in Oct. 2019 suggested that while nothing the Bidens had done was illegal, it was nevertheless ethically very questionable. Of course this is hardly surprising given Joe’s exposure as a habitual liar in his 1988 run for the leadership of his party.
I am no legal scholar and am hardly in a position to declare what ought to be done. Hunter Biden’s finances are still under investigation and there is some chance his father may yet be dragged into the fray. But what I do know with certainty is that if Trump were found guilty of similar “indiscretions,” the Impeachment process would already be underway and the “journalists” at CNN, MSNBC, etc., would be venting their “moral” indignation 7 days a week, 24 hours a day!
