They wanted to de-fund the police and now city after city in the U.S. has, in the face of soaring crime rates, reversed its position. N.Y. added 200 million to its police budget in 2021! It seems compromised law enforcement only encourages criminals! Duh!
Certain hard drugs having been decriminalized in Oregon, overdoses are up approximately 700%. Who could have figured? Duh!
Not Canada’s Liberals, apparently! It has just been announced that beginning next year, B.C.’s adults will be able to carry as much as 2.5 grams of certain drugs [opioids, cocaine, methamphetamines, etc.] without fear of arrest should they be caught. That those drugs will remain illegal certainly says something about their often dire effects. I wonder what might be the result of this “progressive” legislative move? Duh!
The Trudeau government’s Bill C-21 forbids present legal gun owners from passing them on to others while also prohibiting the importation of firearms from outside our borders. Some have suggested the bill to be of little practical value. Yet it is certainly in keeping with the “progressive” notion that it is not people but guns that are responsible for the escalating gun violence in Canadian society. But does this explain the “logic” of Bill C-5 which, in response to the fact that our Indigenous and those of other “marginalized” groups seem to be responsible for an inordinately high percentage of gun crime in this country, has “compassionately” eliminated certain minimum sentences mandated by the former Harper Conservatives. Illegal possession of a firearm, for example, will no longer be punished with the same degree of harshness, this as part of Canada’s enlightened struggle against “systemic racism.” But is it racist to arrest those who are demonstrably guilty? Is reducing the repercussions of their crimes not likely to incite them to even greater violence? Gee, I wonder if C-5 will significantly decrease crime rates within our Indigenous population? Duh!
A “progressive,” non-profit, anti-gun organization in the U.S., “Everytown for Gun Safety,” has lauded California as the best state in the nation for its “gun law strength.” Among its wonderful policies: a ban on assault weapons, universal background checks, extended waiting periods for gun purchases, etc., etc.. Yet isn’t it odd that an FBI report stated that California led all other American states in 2021 in “active shooter incidents.” These do not include acts of self-defense, drug or gang related violence or domestic disputes, but rather only incidents involving individuals seemingly bent on public acts of mass slaughter. In four of those incidents, the Bureau reported, legal gun owners put an end to what might have become major catastrophes. Could it be that California’s notoriously “progressive” [i.e., lax] approach to the Rule of Law make its restrictive gun policies a mere exercise in futility? Duh!
Chesa Boudin, San Fransisco’s ultra liberal District Attorney since Jan. of 2020, has just been removed from office in a recall vote that was quite decisive. While Democrats might suggest the vote to have been dominated by “privileged” Whites, a majority of the city’s Black community, clearly disgusted by the crime in their streets, supported his dismissal. “Progressive” Mayor London Breed chose to interpret the vote as a personal rejection of Boudin rather than of his own many “liberal” justice reforms. In 2021 Breed’s City Council relegated approximately 1 billion dollars to the welfare of San Fransisco’s homeless over the next two years. This money, in tandem with several charitable organizations, seeks not to remove the city’s many homeless from its streets but rather to assist them in the harrowing challenges of their lifestyle. “Liberals,” you see, are caring, loving and non-judgmental! But is it possible their tolerance is, as “conservatives” tend to believe, nothing more than a free pass to demonstrably destructive behavior? In 2015 San Fransisco reported 92 drug related deaths. 2020 saw that number swell to approximately 700! Gee, is it possible Breed is delusional in his belief that Boudin’s dismissal had nothing to do with the public’s increasing awareness of the absurdity of his “progressive” policies? Do the facts of San Fransisco’s decline into a state of borderline chaos leave any doubt? Duh!
Hi! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if
that would be ok. I’m absolutely enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
Hi ….Thanks for your comment …. I don’t use Twitter because I feel that what I’m saying might quickly get me cancelled ….. The platform I’m using keeps encouraging me to take the steps necessary to be seen by a wider audience but I keep putting it off ….. I’m retired and well educated and simply feel people who see the world the way you and I do need to address the fact that the world seems to have gone crazy.
I am curious to find out what blog platform you’re using?
I’m having some minor security issues with my latest site
and I would like to find something more risk-free.
Do you have any solutions?
I am no internet wizard….. I clicked on Word Press which then sent me to Blue Host which has since been publishing my posts….. Various friends read them along with a few strangers but I am certainly not followed by hundreds or thousands…… No doubt I should try to remedy that situation…….. Thanks for getting in touch.
