On Sept. 25 Keean Bexte of The Rebel posted a video of a brief interaction with Catherine McKenna, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure. There has been a good deal of talk by Liberals lately of the need to remove “hate speech” from the Internet’s various networks. Of course “hate speech” has ludicrously come to be equated with anything that does no meet the standards of political correctness. Its enshrinement as a rational measure of what is acceptable speech is literally a recipe for Fascism, the very sort of state control ironically deplored by George Orwell, himself a so-called progressive, in “1984”!
As McKenna had recently tweeted that the Federal Liberal Government might have to step in and take charge of the Internet, Bexte pressed her for her opinion on that subject. Refusing to respond, clearly getting more and more stressed by his presence, she finally broke into a rant about how the Rebel was inciting on-line hatred against her as a Woman; not anger at her endorsement of an action seriously threatening to the very principle of Free Speech, but sheer misogynistic hatred!
I have seen Kayleigh McEnany repeatedly respond to a hostile press with unblinking courage and a plethora of facts. McKenna, on the other hand, apparently lacking either, illustrated the very sort of abuse to which the notion of “hate speech” inevitably leads, pathetically invoking it to sidestep discussion of an issue that seriously needs to be discussed.
Playing the Victim Card, she showed the same level of maturity as Christopher Kohl’s friend Liz, indeed the same level of maturity of many of the simpletons pillaging America’s streets, choosing to attribute her emotional meltdown not to her inability to answer Bexte’s queries, but rather to a cruel, cruel world full of Men who simply don’t respect Women.
