In October, Tulsi Gabbard, former Representative from Hawaii, announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party. While not affiliating herself with the Republicans, her critique of the contemporary scene reflected the same rational perspective I associate with “conservatism,” a perspective shared by the host of commentators to whom I regularly refer, individuals preeminently guided by Reason rather than sheer political bias. In a video explaining her move, she pretty much summarizes the themes of the hundreds of blogs I have written over the last few years.
Tulsi says: “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that’s under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our constitution, who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police but protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, who believe in open borders, who weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents, and, above all, who are dragging us closer to nuclear war.”
While her last charge seems somewhat contentious, each of the others seems unequivocally true. The Democrats, she says later in her video, by undermining the Rule of Law, are turning America into a Banana Republic! The incredible irony of this decline, as I have said repeatedly throughout these blogs, is that it has been spearheaded by those who call themselves “progressives,” those who, as I shall illustrate in my next blog, celebrate the Stone-Age cultures of various Indigenous peoples over the Culture of Western European Man who dared believe he might actually use his Mind and Creative Energy to radically improve his plight on this planet!
