In early Nov., Tiffany Cross, the black hostess of MSNBC’s “The Cross Connection,” was fired by her network. The Washington Post subsequently published an article suggesting she was a victim of White Patriarchal resentment towards those of both her Gender and Color. The fact that the head of MSNBC, Rashida Jones, is a Black woman, did not seem to be relevant. Nor did the salient facts that led to her dismissal. Such is the dementia of our age that should any Woman or Person of Color be the target of criticism or indeed “cancellation,” it is immediately assumed by our “intellectuals” to be a matter of Identity rather than the possible degeneracy of their Ideas or Behavior. The ever predictable Washington Post suggested all Black journalists needed to be worried about their futures.
“Conservative” commentators generally discuss the substantial reasons informing their critiques of their political opponents rather than, as is the habit on the Left, merely calling them names. Megyn Kelly said Cross was one of the most racist people in all of television, citing as an example her insistence that the concussion suffered by Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a Sept., 2022 NFL game, was but another instance of wealthy White people exploiting helpless Blacks for their own economic benefit. Kelly claimed Tua, a Samoan, was not even really Black, though her argument, I would suggest, was somewhat disingenuous given that he is clearly not White. But the narrative pushed by Cross was absurd! The thousands of young Black men who have become millionaires playing professional football were in no way coerced into doing so. That thousands of White men took the same path would seem to suggest racism has little to do with the issue at hand. Those who view every socioeconomic trend through the lens of Race might want to demand an inquiry into the makeup of the NBA. While less than 20% of the U.S. population is Black, a significantly higher percent of NBA players appear to be of that color! Are White men being unfairly excluded from the league or is its statistical makeup simply a result of the genetic/cultural differences active within every realm of human activity? Such realities, i.e., the facts of Life, are of little interest to those intent on finding racism and sexism in every nook and cranny. Cross’s outrage over the plight of Black men involved in a sport that is admittedly violent, is truly superficial.
In early Nov., Don Abrams of News Nation commented on MSNBC’s decision to release Cross. Her rhetoric, he said, was constantly incendiary, constantly over the top. Warning her fellow Blacks of an impending Civil War in the States, she told them to be prepared for violence from their White oppressors. Yes, there may be a small minority of racist loons in the States who might at some point resort to violence, but the unqualified commitment with which they would be subdued would no doubt put an end to the myth of the country’s so-called “systemic racism.” Indeed if some degree of civil strife were to occur in the near future, would not the rhetoric of fools such as Tiffany Cross be at least in part responsible?
Don Abrams cites an appearance by Cross on Comedy Central in which she refers to the Republican Governor of Florida as Ron DeStupid. Not content with insulting DeSantis, she refers to his State as what various web sites have termed the “d–k” of the country. I’m assuming the censored word is “dick.” Apparently MSNBC was not thrilled with a “news” person given to alienating the several million viewers it may formerly have had in the State of Florida.
It is a fact that the ratings of networks such as CNN and MSNBC [and most networks here in Canada] which purport to be objective purveyors of the Truth while in fact being little more than dealers in Left Wing Propaganda, have declined radically in the last few years. It is for that reason that they relentlessly insist on referring to their competitors online as purveyors of “misinformation.” It is for that reason that most of them are trying to radically reconfigure their image. It is for that reason that Tiffany Cross was fired! Racism had nothing to do with it!
