Systemic B.S.

In the interview to which I referred at the end of my last blog, Coleman Hughes, a writer with Quillette, wonders aloud why it is that Blacks who emigrate to America from such Caribbean nations as Jamaica are, by their second generation, earning 58% more than Black Americans in general. If the “system” is “rigged” against people of a particular complexion, should it not oppress all of them equally? Hughes points out that in neighborhoods with a strong concentration of Caribbean immigrants, crime rates are significantly lower than in the typical inner city ghetto while the percentage of young people going to university is significantly higher. Such disparities have been a focus of Thomas Sowell for years, he too wondering why, if systemic racism is so oppressive throughout the States, millions of Black folks have managed to prosper. With her usual flare for the controversial, Candace Owens, having stated that the luckiest Blacks in the world live in America, wryly announced she would gladly supply transportation back to Somalia, Ethiopia, etc., to all those convinced they were being tormented by systemic racism.

It is Cultural Values and the outcomes they entail that “conservatives” define as the cause of most of the problems within Black urban communities. The Sixties saw a rebellion against the traditional Western notions of restraint and morality, those angry Black Americans who deemed themselves the victims of oppression abandoning those values far more readily than their White contemporaries. Murder rates within the Black community surged. Respect for the nuclear family broke down. Black teenagers, often bereft of parental guidance, began fornicating with abandon. A recent survey of 13 year old boys revealed that while only 9% of the White kids polled had had sex, approximately 21% of their Black peers were very active. With the same disregard for restraint, Black adults clearly unable to afford them, began spending money on luxury items such as expensive cars to an extent almost unheard of among Whites of comparable incomes. I could cite dozens of outlandishly flamboyant Black cultural icons [Being outlandish is deemed to be cool among the brainless!] whose values and behavior are demonstrably degenerate. To one such as Ibram X. Kendi this is an expression of White arrogance. To those such as Candace Owens, Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Coleman Hughes and so many others, it is a simple fact. But of course they continue to see us as Intelligent Beings responsible for what we become whereas in the degenerate narrative promoted by “progressives” we are really mere Monkeys who got a little too big for our britches.

Hardly surprising, I suppose, that those marauding through the streets of America today often behave as such, though the average Monkey, I think, might be embarrassed by some of their antics!

See my next blog for a lovely example of the “idealism” of those “social justice warriors” so revered by Barack Obama, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, etc., etc.
