Fact: “Liberals” Hate Democracy!

As reported by Tristin Hopper in Canada’s National Post of April 22: A new Health Canada report suggests public health officials should be openly advocating for the toppling of capitalism, Western society and even the very concept of “liberty and individualism.”

The three authors of the paper, prepared for Canada’s chief public health official Dr. Theresa Tam, consulted 30 other “experts” in examining the “impacts of climate change on the health and well-being of people living in Canada.” While citing no specific health issues in any way attributable to contemporary weather patterns, their profound conclusion seems to be that if our planet dies, so also do we. Duh!

With typical Leftist arrogance, Canada’s mainstream media rarely features any of the multitude of scientists skeptical of the belief that man-made carbon dioxide is leading us to perdition. But this theory is fraught with unanswered questions conveniently ignored by Suzuki, Gore et al. In the 70s, scientists were warning of the dangers of global cooling! Try inditing the unwarranted fanaticism of the contemporary environmental movement to those who mindlessly accept everything they are told, and you will of course be greeted with condescending sneers of disbelief. Obviously air and water pollution are real issues quite distinct from the Anthropogenic Narrative. The latter, however hypothetical, dominates the news these days because it gels perfectly with the anti-Western, anti-Rational, anti-Capitalist, anti-Achievement, anti-Individual, anti-Freedom agenda of the Socialist Left.

As invariably happens when these issues are discussed, the Holistic approach to the natural world of various Indigenous peoples is cited as clearly superior to that of Western Man. Whereas the European tradition, beginning with the Ancient Greeks, assumed Man to be an Intelligent Being separated from the Natural World by that very fact, the term holistic implies human beings, monkeys and trees to be indistinguishable aspects of the same realm. Hence the ludicrous celebration by our “intellectuals” of various primitive cultures over those of Western Europe.

The Health Canada Report partakes of this dementia, at one point stating: “we have a deep appreciation for Indigenous Peoples’ close and continuing relationship to the land and waters ….” But was that relationship born of a profound respect for Nature or the simple fact that those in question were almost utterly devoid of the intellectual curiosity that drove both Western European and various other Civilizations to try and improve the human condition by making pragmatic use of what they saw as the planet’s various natural resources? To those who would suggest Western Culture is infected with a “patriarchal” aggressiveness foreign to the temperament of the Americas’ Indigenous, I would recommend Lawrence Keeley’s “War Before Civilization: The Myth of the Peaceful Savage,” a book which utterly destroys the notion that Indians failed to exploit their environment because they were simply not prone to such self-serving acts of violence.

Obviously we need to proceed with caution as we continue to investigate the impact of our actions on the environment. Eco-Modernists are convinced the answers to our problems are to be found in further scientific research rather than the rejection of all things modern as symbolized by the reintroduction of windmills to the landscape. But as the Health Canada document illustrates, Leftist activists are not so much interested in seeking solutions to our problems as they are in dismantling Western Civilization itself. One of those cited in the document states quite succinctly that it is the “core values” of Western Man that are the problem, most notably his obsession with “liberty and individualism.” The problem, you see, is that the motivated Individual tends to use his Liberty to try and improve his life and this inevitably results in the socioeconomic inequalities loathed by the Left. At the same time such efforts are bound to produce carbon footprints significantly greater than those produced by individuals content to sit at home and simply cash their monthly welfare checks.

Nowhere is the absurdity of the Left’s loathing for the Capitalist West more evident than in the hypocrisy of those such as David Suzuki who, while never ceasing to rant about the environment, has a carbon footprint a thousand times greater than the average Canadian. To the myriad like him in the mainstream media, the political realm, academia, etc., I would say: If you truly loathe Western Civilization, give up your homes and condos and cars and televisions and computers and international flights, all of which are the product of Western technology, and live simply beneath the sun and moon with the “holistic” purity you pretend to revere. Of course, they will not! Such is the hypocrisy that pervades the political Left, a hypocrisy compounded by its insistence that the wealth produced by the Evils of Capitalism ought nevertheless to be shared with those apparently too noble to engage in its sordid practices.

That those affiliated with Canada’s official Health Board are spewing such gibberish, is just another indication that our Democracy, as stated by the much loathed Tucker Carlson, really is in danger of being terminated.
