Systemic Insanity!

I have before me several hundred index cards each referencing an example of the Leftist lunacy that has come to dominate our era. As I cannot possibly write an extended essay on every instance of such, I shall, for the foreseeable future, briefly cite events and individuals you may wish to explore on your own.

On March 14, The Blaze News Network cited one Rebecca F. Rothstein, a teacher at a Bethesda Maryland Middle School, who had declared on social media that she was “proud as F— to be a liberal” indoctrinating her students with Marxist ideology. Teaching math and science, she declared, is not nearly as important as eradicating the scourges of racism, the patriarchy, police brutality, etc., etc.. Exclaiming “F— Capitalism” in one of her posts, she suggests the violence of those who would bring it down is utterly justified. Indeed she says the 2 billion dollars in damages done by B.L.M. in 2020 was unworthy of the outrage it incited among “conservatives.”

Her sophisticated vision of the contemporary West is perhaps best summarized in the following: “White privilege is not about work ethic. White privilege is about the color of your skin.” A devout advocate of Identity Politics, she chooses to simply ignore the substantial differences between various cultures, suggesting the status of their contemporary offspring is just a matter of Skin Color! Yes, the Ancient Greeks were discussing the fundamental existential issues of what it means to be Human 2500 years ago simply because their skin was White. It had nothing to do with their Intellectual Curiosity and their historically self-evident commitment to defining what is both True and Good, a commitment conspicuously lacking in various other cultures.

The superficiality of the Marxist world-view represented by Rebecca Rothstein is appalling. It literally incites hatred towards the successful simply for having become so. I have no idea if she has been fired due to her comments. I’m sure most of the parents of her students were outraged to discover she was not teaching their kids the standard curriculum but rather attempting to indoctrinate them. Yet so demented is the contemporary cultural climate that her loathing for everything Western, including her endorsement of revolutionary violence, may not cost her her job. At the same time, of course, anyone who reads the papers can cite dozens of individuals in education, health care, and various other realms of public life who, for making the most innocuous of politically incorrect comments, have been cancelled, fired, or otherwise excoriated by arrogant know-it-alls such as Ms. Rothstein.
