The Epoch Times was founded by Chinese ex-patriots whose disgust with the tyranny of their former Communist overlords has led them to be staunch “conservative” supporters of the Principles of Freedom of Speech and Conscience. They are of course demonized by most on the Left as Right-Wing fanatics. On May 29, The Times published an article on the ideological journey of reporter Marianne Klowak, a 34 year veteran of Canada’s CBC whose 2021 departure from that network was fraught with disappointment.
Speaking at a National Citizens’ Inquiry in Ottawa on May 18, an event intentionally divorced from government interference, Marianne revealed that several stories she had submitted to her superiors had been rejected because they failed to support the narrative of both Canada’s government and its mainstream media sycophants. One could not mention, she said, the many adverse effects of the government mandated vaccines. Nor could one cite the fact that citizens across the country had demonstrated against what they saw as an unwarranted abuse of government power, an abuse that was devastating their lives in a multitude of ways. There was, according to her CBC bosses, no room for discussion or debate on these issues. With typical Leftist arrogance, they simply dismissed her submissions as “disinformation” while submitting them to no substantial scrutiny whatsoever. Her outrage is evident in the following: “Not only had we shut down one side by silencing and discrediting anyone opposing the narrative, we had elevated and designated ourselves gatekeepers of the truth. We no longer believed our audience was capable of thinking for themselves.” Such is the arrogance of the never-ending, contemporary tirade against Populism, a polemic which never focuses on the often irrefutable common sense of “regular” people, but simply dismisses them because they are not “inclusive” zealots.
“Democracy dies behind closed doors.” Such was the opening statement of Texas Judge Mark Pittman who, on May 9, decreed that both Moderna and Pfizer need to release a detailed account of the history and efficacy of their vaccines as soon as possible rather than over the next 20 years or so as was, apparently, their previous intention. A staunch believer in peoples’ right to know, he won’t likely be getting a job offer from Canada’s CBC in the near future.
