You can always get Half the Truth in the N.Y. Times

The N. Y. Times International supplement of July1-2 included an article by Nicholas Kristof entitled: The Hunter Biden Saga and Its Real Lesson. In it Kristof celebrates Joe’s love for his drug addicted son while lamenting the horrible impact such addictions are having across the U.S.. The “real lesson” of the saga in question, apparently, is that America must deal more effectively with the availability of such devastating drugs as crack cocaine and fentanyl. But while this is no doubt true, Kristof conveniently fails to mention several aspects of the Hunter Biden saga that make it devastating not only to the reputation of his father, but to the policies of the Democratic Party. His article is a classic example of Political Bias parading as Objective Analysis!

First of all, it is in “progressive” States such as California and Oregon, which have “compassionately” decriminalized the possession of certain harmful drugs, that abuse is most rampant. Fentanyl is particularly vile, its availability in the U.S., apparently, having increased dramatically due to the free rein given to Mexico’s drug dealers by Biden’s border policy. As mention of either of these facts might seem an endorsement of the Republican Party, indeed of Trump’s border wall which was vilified by the Left as a racially motivated abomination, Kristof conveniently fails to mention them.

He does frankly admit that “Hunter acted inappropriately to monetize his proximity to the White House.” At the same time, however, he says “I see no clear evidence of wrongdoing by President Joseph R. Biden Jr. himself.” Indeed the chief point of the article would seem to be Biden’s admirable efforts to rescue his son from his life of addiction.

Now it is a fact that millions of dollars flowed into the Biden family coffers through Hunter’s business dealings in both China and the Ukraine when his father was Vice President. Yet having openly admitted Hunter’s drug induced dysfunction, Kristof asks us to accept that, for example, the energy company Burisma hired an addict with no expertise whatsoever in the energy sector, who just happened to be the son of the U.S. Vice President, but got no special favors whatsoever from his father because he is clearly a man of impeccable integrity. Kristof surely must know that while Biden Sr. has said repeatedly he never discussed Hunter’s foreign business dealings with him, a good deal of evidence suggests this to be a brazen lie. And he must surely know somewhere in the depths of his murky conscience, that had Donald Trump colluded in such suspicious foreign dealings with one of his offspring, not an edition of the N.Y. Times would have been published over the last several years that did not include a call for his impeachment, indictment, imprisonment, beheading, etc., etc.. Yet the profound insight of Kristof’s article, aside from its assertion of the blatantly obvious fact that drug addiction is a serious problem in the U.S. these days, is that Joe Biden is a truly loving, caring father.

Amazing, the way those on the Left can convince themselves of the rectitude of their views, even as they flounder in abject political bias!
