Enforcing the Law isn’t Optional!

Alexander Adams has just been sentenced to 8 years in prison for his Feb. 2022 beating of a 79 year old woman who is now, sadly, little more than a vegetable.

When John and Claudia Hopkins emerged from a supermarket in Wash. DC., Adams demanded they give him five dollars. Receiving only a buck, he assaulted John whose wife attempted to defend him. Grabbing her husband’s cane, Adams proceeded to beat her about the head, causing serious brain damage. Whereas the couple had previously had an active social life, they now have none whatsoever as Claudia is confined to a nursing home.

What makes this sad tale relevant is the fact that Adams had previously been arrested 32 times, 11 of which entailed violent assaults! That he was out and about and able to destroy the lives of this innocent couple is no doubt a result of both the Left’s insanely naive approach to the issue of Human Evil, coupled with its fiscal irresponsibility which has rendered most “progressive” jurisdictions incapable of providing adequate prison or mental facilities for those who clearly pose a danger to the public.

I know I have tackled this issue before, but securing the safety of their citizens, it seems to me, ought to be a preeminent priority of every sane government. What better illustrates the Left’s dereliction of this responsibility than Biden’s open border policy which has entailed the squandering of hundreds of millions of dollars which might have been better spent, while at the same time allowing criminal elements into the U.S. who clearly pose a threat to its citizens. Do I have compassion for those seeking to escape the horrors of their homelands? Of course I do. But it is utterly superseded by my compassion for the taxpayers of various Western Democracies whose welfare has in fact taken a back seat to the ideological fanaticism of those they elected. According to an article posted by CTV in March of 2023, Global Affairs Canada is spending approximately 3.5 billion dollars annually to foster the rights of Women internationally, while having little sense whatsoever of the impact of its expenditures. Might not that money be better spent defending Canadian Women from the assaults, rapes and murders committed by “boyfriends” who have been arrested repeatedly, only to be released again and again because we do not have the facilities to imprison or rehabilitate them?

It is in no way unfair to lay the blame for such abominations at the feet of our elected officials. Nor is it unjust to point out that they occur more frequently in jurisdictions run by those who absurdly see themselves as “progressives.” Under Lori Lightfoot’s leadership, Chicago saw 695 people murdered in 2022. I wonder how many of the perpetrators ought to have been behind bars? I wonder why the “compassionate” Left seems more concerned with the plight of drug addicts and psychopaths than with that of poor Mrs. Claudia Hopkins whose life was virtually ended by a piece of human excrement who had been arrested 32 times?
