On Jan. 3 of 2022, Associated Press published an article by Michael Biesecker entitled: “Ashli Babbitt a martyr? Her past tells a more complex story.” Babbitt was shot to death by a cop as she sought to climb through a broken window of the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.
Biesecker goes on at some length showing that Babbitt was hardly a perfect human being. Cheating on her husband in 2015, she was appalled to learn that the girlfriend of her lover had informed her husband in 2016. This led to an ugly confrontation with the woman in question resulting in Babbitt being charged with various misdemeanors. Clearly she had a temper. At the same time she espoused political views which Biesecker finds utterly repulsive. An avowed libertarian for whom the Left’s inclination to “cancel” opinions of which it did not approve was an abomination, she also believed the 2020 election had been stolen from Donald Trump. While Biesecker scoffs at the absurdity of this “lie,” there is, as I have cited in a number of blogs, a good deal of evidence supporting her belief, the mainstream media’s suppression of the Hunter Biden scandal as well as the absurdly lax mail-in voting standards endorsed in many states, arguably having much to do with the election’s final result. But to Biesecker, of course, Babbitt was just another ignorant supporter of Satan himself, Donald Trump, and her conviction that she was defending traditional American values was utter nonsense.
The point of his article, obviously, was that “conservative” outrage over the killing of this unarmed White Woman as she sought to climb through a Capitol building window was really unwarranted, given her degenerate character. In the weeks following the “insurrection,” the identity of the officer responsible for her death was suspiciously kept a secret. It turns out he was a young Black man who, in subsequent inquiries, has been exonerated of any wrongdoing. What, one wonders, would have been the result of those inquiries had the victim been an unarmed Black woman shot by a White officer? The answer is obvious. The media would have exploded with outrage while America’s streets would have been devastated once again by the violent antics of Black Lives Matter. Ironically, Biesecker’s point would seem to have been that Ashli Babbitt’s life Did Not Matter!
A 35 year old former member of the U.S. Air Force, a woman who obviously saw herself as a patriot, Babbitt had posted many angry, anti-Leftist rants on social media. As the main theme of these blogs is that the contemporary Left is literally attacking the fundamental values and principles upon which Western Civilization was founded, I would no doubt have agreed with many of her views. Biesecker, of course, hates them. But does that give him the right to smugly dismiss her death as a matter of no consequence? She was shot point blank while climbing unarmed through a window! Ought not any decent human being to feel empathy for both she and her family, whatever her politics? Is not Biesecker’s assault on her reputation despicable? Indeed is it not a perfect example of the Left’s sleazy habit of avoiding discussion of the real issues at hand by engaging in hateful, ad hominem attacks? Is not the real issue in question here the unjustified murder of Ashli Babbitt?
What better illustrates the insanity of our “progressive” culture than the fact that Black career criminal George Floyd has had monuments erected in his honor because his life was ended by a White cop, while an individual described as a “global investigative reporter for The Associated Press” felt perfectly entitled to smear the reputation of Ashli Babbitt because, well, her skin was the wrong color and her political views simply unacceptable!
