On June 27, Carl D. Montague of Providence, Rhode Island, used Truth Social to express his fervid desire to slaughter Donald Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller. His post was filled with obscenities and utter disdain for each of the above. When arrested, Montague admitted to the FBI that he was in fact the author of the diatribe. His proffered excuse was that he was under the influence of marijuana at the time.
Convicted of 4 assaults since 2014, Montague was charged on Aug. 13 with various felonies related to his death threats, felonies which might land him in jail for a significant amount of time. The Dept. of Justice, seeing him as an obvious danger to his intended targets, including the President of the U.S., sought on two occasions to have him kept in custody until the date of his trial, yet in both instances was rejected by Federal Judges with Democratic affiliations, judges who felt that a G.P.S. monitoring device attached to Montague’s ankle would surely dissuade him from doing anything of a criminal nature. That his hold on sanity is clearly tenuous, that he has little respect for the lives of others, would seem self-evident. How, one wonders, could those responsible for defending the Rule of Law and the lives of the Innocent, be so foolish as to allow this dangerous criminal to continue to walk among us? Why would he not be held in custody until his day of reckoning?
I fully support government efforts to lend a helping hand to those who, for economic or other reasons, are confronted with extraordinary hurdles in their attempts to improve their quality of life. But the political Left’s “social conscience” morphs into a form of insanity when it puts law abiding citizens at risk out of “empathy” for discernibly degenerate human beings. I can think of no better example of this than Myles Sanderson, a Canadian Indigenous who had been arrested over 50 times yet was still free to kill 10 people in a 2022 killing spree in Saskatchewan. Canada’s courts killed those 10 people! The “progressive tolerance” extended to Sanderson because he was a member of an “oppressed” race, quite literally killed those 10 people!
