And the Beat Goes On

If you follow “conservative” websites such as The Blaze, you will know there have been longstanding questions regarding Joe Biden’s abuse of his status as Vice President to line the pockets of other members of his family as well as, perhaps, his own.

In 2013 Hunter Biden, for no self-evident reason, accompanied his father on a trip to China. Approximately 10 days after his return to the States, the Chinese Communist Party awarded his small private equity firm a billion dollar contract, a Chinese bank generously financing the project. Hmm!

In 2014 Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company. Paid fifty thousand dollars a month, he had no expertise either in the energy sector or the Ukraine. Was it possible Burisma might use Hunter’s presence on its board to influence U.S. foreign policy? Was it possible that Biden might use his power as V.P. to further the interests of his son’s generous new employer? A pending investigation of possible corrupt practices by Burisma was in fact made to disappear, the Vice President apparently lobbying for the dismissal of its chief prosecutor. When charged that he had acted in collusion with the executives at Burisma, Biden Senior denied having communicated with any of them on the subject. But the N.Y. Post has just discovered a 2015 email in which Burisma advisor Vadym Pozharskyi thanks Hunter for having hooked him up with his dad. If legitimate, the email proves Joe Biden to be a brazen liar.

This is an ugly election, perhaps the ugliest ever. While it seems obvious to me that most of the hateful, vituperative and outright absurd denunciations of their political opponents have been coming from the Left [i.e., if you denounce BLM you’re a Neo-Nazi; if you’re a devout Christian you’re a “fucking nut”{Bill Mahr}; if you vote for Trump you’re a “maggot”{Keith Olbermann}], neither the Democrats or Republicans are above such tactics. At the same time there is ample evidence that V.P. Biden used his political status with something less than perfect integrity just as did the Clintons, by the way, in managing their charitable organization to noticeably enhance their own financial situation. But while one would hope the upcoming election to be determined by the merit of the Ideas involved rather than by the muckraking expertise of either party, the truly disturbing aspect of the N.Y. Post’s revelation is that both Facebook and Twitter immediately sought to limit its access to their customers. These tech giants able to control the flow of information to hundreds of millions around the globe, while relentlessly portraying Trump as a threat to Democracy, have the audacity to try and orchestrate the result of the upcoming election by denying the right of the general public to assess the facts for themselves. Of course fundamental to this stratagem is their assumption that anyone who doesn’t share their Leftist world view is an idiot. It is an assumption antagonistic to the basic Principles of Democracy including that of Free Speech, but Principles, as I have illustrated repeatedly, really don’t mean much to the political Left.

Those who share the dominant world view of any given era are invariably smug in their moral/intellectual certainties. The term “herd instinct” comes to mind. “Progressivism” has come to be the dominant herd mentality in the West over the last 60 years. But “conservatives” argue that those legitimate issues of social justice which clearly needed to be addressed after the Second World War have been supplanted on the Left by a plethora of cliches utterly devoid of moral or intellectual merit. Indeed it is their contention that those consumed by these cliches [the geniuses at CNN, the CBC, Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc.] are the real threats to our Democracies. Quite frankly, as my next 2 blogs shall illustrate, it is not particularly difficult to expose the absurdity of some of the fundamental assumptions which have come to infect our Western “Progressive” Civilization.
