Yesterday [May 7] The Blaze published a piece on the FBI’s handling of an assault launched in June, 2017, on a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, where several Republicans were practising for an upcoming charity game. While none, other than the assailant, were killed, Republican Rep. Steve Scalise suffered serious, life-threatening injuries while 3 others were also wounded. After examining the history of the shooter, James Hodgkinson, the FBI issued a report suggesting he was primarily motivated by a desire to die in a confrontation with the police. Four years later, however, the Bureau revised its narrative of “suicide by cop” and admitted, with no new information available to it, that the 2017 assault had in fact been an act of Leftist “domestic terrorism.” Just recently, under its new Republican Director Kash Patel, the FBI issued a report highlighting the true incompetence if not corruption of the Bureau’s original handling of the event.
This new report revealed that in 2017 the FBI had “used false statements, manipulated known facts, and butchered analysis” in reaching its peculiar conclusion. Stating that Hodgkinson had no affiliation with any terrorist group, the Bureau had chosen to ignore his Facebook affiliation with a site called “Terminate the Republican Party.” At the same time, its statement that it had found only 2 documents of a political nature in examining Hodgkinson’s possessions, was proven false by the plethora of writings that ultimately came to light, writings which clearly revealed his radical Leftist bias. The ultimate absurdity of the conclusion reached by the FBI in 2017 was, according to The Blaze, that in spite of all the evidence it had to the contrary, it had chosen to believe Hodgkinson’s brother who insisted that James had merely been trying to commit suicide.
Were there significant repercussions as a result of the FBI’s seeming Leftist bias in its handling of this 2017 event? Not really. But in a healthy Democracy, such institutions must remain politically neutral. That such objectivity seems virtually impossible given the demented Leftist bias of our age, is one of the facts that no doubt fills Donald Trump with rage. But at the same time it does not give him the right to turn every legal institution in the country into a mere tool of his particular biases.
The terms Left and Right, as I have said repeatedly, are misleading in that the Conservatism to which I subscribe is of the Rational Centre. Trump has just announced his judicial nominees to various courts around the country and the Democrats are of course appalled by the apparent bias of his selections. But a judge who rules that the federal government has every right to deport those who entered the U.S. illegally, is not acting upon political bias but merely upholding The Rule of Law! Similarly one who bans 200 lb. individuals with penises from competing in women’s sports, is not venting his/her transphobia, but merely upholding Common Sense! Hopefully Trump’s impact on his country’s various legal institutions, including the FBI, will entail a renewed respect for The Truth rather than merely a Right-Wing bias no less demented than the so-called Progressivism which has infected Western Politics for the last several decades. Only time will tell!
