On last Friday’s The View, Sara Haines tried to explain to her fellow co-hosts that Trump had won the recent election not because the majority of Americans are racists and misogynists, but because the Democrats were guilty of some truly flawed logic. While she is still no fan of Donald Trump, she says, it was absurd for his political opponents to dismiss his supporters as simply “dumb.” Yes, she stated, there were racists, etc. amongst them, but millions of others had legitimate reasons for not supporting Kamala. What no doubt alienated them, she suggested, was the “condescending” attitude, i.e., the intellectual arrogance, of the mainstream Left.
As an example of that arrogance, she cited the fact that while millions of decent Americans had expressed concern over the seeming decline in the Rule of Law, many Democrats were in favor of “defunding” the police. This arrogance, as I have stated repeatedly, is obvious in the Left’s pejorative use of the word “populism” which implies that “regular people” who vote against its agenda are just too stupid to know better. But Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin would have none of Haines’ critique, the former insisting that it was racism and misogyny that led to Trump’s victory, while Hostin maintained the message of the Left is unquestionably “one of joy and inclusiveness.” Apparently both of them were unable to digest Haines’ point that the Left only “includes” those who agree with everything it says and does!
As I said, Sara Haines is no fan of Donald Trump. I have no problem with that. He’s not my kind of guy either. I would have voted for him were I an American because of his policies rather than his personality. But what Haines tried to do on The View was discredit the derision and name calling typical of most Leftists’ reactions to their political opponents, and introduce simple common sense into the discussion. Sadly, her girlfriends would have none of it and merely continued in venting their mindless hatred!
