As reported by the Blaze, journalist Steve Baker has just pleaded guilty to the 4 misdemeanor charges leveled at him for entering the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. Baker is a libertarian [conservative?] who was there to report on the day’s events. Given the hostility of the District Judge in charge of his case, one Christopher Cooper, Baker said he was simply not willing to endure the humiliation of a trial whose result was a foregone conclusion. Inasmuch as his next appearance before Cooper is scheduled for Mar. 6 of next year, however, it is very possible he may already have been the benefactor of one of the pardons promised by the incoming president for those “insurrectionists” he feels have been unjustly persecuted.
What Baker sees as the hostility of Judge Cooper was no doubt motivated by the various articles he has written over the last 3 years condemning the bias of the DOJ which he deemed obvious throughout the presidency of Joe Biden. Cooper’s response to this charge was to passionately insist that his rulings were always 100% fair and impartial. Yet Baker’s lawyer pointed out that while he could name over 60 other journalists present in restricted areas of the Capitol that day, the only 3 or 4 who have been charged with criminal offenses have been “conservatives.” In its post, The Blaze produced several pictures of Baker with some sort of recording device in his hands as he sought to record the events in question. Is he an “insurrectionist” who needs to be punished for his misdeeds, or just another example of the corruption of America’s legal system incited by Biden’s Democrats?
