Danish cattle ranchers are now being asked to pay approximately $100 per year, per cow, to compensate for the methane their animals are spewing into the atmosphere. As I have pointed out in previous blogs, Man’s contribution to the greenhouse gases that are apparently endangering all life on this planet, are insignificant in comparison to other naturally occurring phenomena. I shall not bore you by repeating the multiple factors which make the Global Warming narrative of today’s anti-industrial, anti-capitalist Leftists no more than a speculative theory, other than to point out that it is a geologically verifiable Fact that the earth’s temperature has been radically fluctuating throughout its history. But what might be the actual repercussions of a tax on a meat product that has in fact become a staple of human consumption?
The price of beef is already prohibitive for many in Canada and would no doubt become even more so should such a tax be levied here. The logical decision of many farmers to switch to other forms of livestock would of course exacerbate this problem. Perhaps a burgher in a few years might cost 20 dollars! But the plight of the common man is insignificant to those possessed by a form of religious fanaticism. Yes, fossil fuels may be negatively impacting the earth’s climate, though this assertion is speculative as opposed to factual. What is a Fact, however, is that those fuels will be extinct in 30 to 40 years. So perhaps the focus of our politicians ought to be on the development of “clean” technologies which might enable us to continue to thrive in the future, rather than on such idiotic initiatives as a war on bovine flatulence!
The cancer of Inflation is a subject covered in most every political debate today. But who’s causing it? Carbon taxes make every aspect of our lives more expensive while doing relatively little to reduce the species’ carbon footprint. Ironically, many of those most fanatically convinced that human emissions are a threat to life on the planet [i.e., David Suzuki, Al Gore, etc.], have carbon footprints a thousand times greater than the average person. The question I am asking here is whether Leftist initiatives such as Denmark’s assault on cow flatulence constitute rational responses to the threat of global warming, or are simply irrational aspects of its loathing for Capitalism, Human Achievement, so-called White Privilege, and indeed the very idea that our species is entitled to attempt to improve its well-being on this planet.
And oh, by the way, how many other species may need to be assailed for criminally spewing inordinate amounts of carbon into our atmosphere?
