As reported by Pamela Geller on June 17, Mohammad Nusairat, a Muslin student leader at the U. of Illinois/Chicago, recently engaged in a passionate, public denunciation of America, Democracy and Capitalism as plagues that have infected the entire planet. Geller quotes him as saying: “America is the cancer. Muslims are tired of this cancer. They are tired of the American government. Islam is the answer!”
In a recent appearance with Piers Morgan, Bill Maher cited an Al Quds day rally in Dearborn, Michigan, rife with the chant “Death to America. Death to America.” Al Quds day occurs annually on the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and is generally characterized by pro-Palestinian, anti-Zionist demonstrations. Appalled that Muslims welcomed to America were calling for the demise of both Israel and the U.S., Maher revealed wryly that he is frequently referred to these days as a radical conservative. But his point of view, he says, has not changed. He is still a liberal. It is contemporary liberalism that has in fact lost its way. His point, of course, is that his revulsion for the Al Quds day protesters is rooted not in “islamophobia,” but in simple common sense, a value the Left seems to have abandoned.
In her article, Pamela Geller has the audacity to cite the opinions of Tommy Robinson, a Brit who is generally characterized as an Islamophobic monster. Robinson sees the beliefs of Muslim fundamentalists as ludicrously irrational, locked in a 7th century world view that is preposterous. While I cannot say I am familiar with all of his opinions, his conviction that such fundamentalists ought not to be allowed into the nations of the West, seems absolutely valid.
Inasmuch as there are no doubt millions of Christians who no longer hold to the traditional view that Homosexuality is a sin, there must also be millions of Muslims who no longer hold to the absolutely illiberal, misogynistic beliefs of Mohammed. This makes the question of Islamic immigration into Western Europe and North America terribly complex. Clearly each and every candidate must be examined for the specifics of his/her beliefs. But of course both the European Union and Joe Biden’s America, given their religious devotion to inclusiveness, no longer feel entitled to engage in such examinations. Hence the widespread “liberal” contempt for Britain’ Brexit vote whereby it sought to regain control of its borders. Hence the presence amongst us of those who see Democracy as a cancer. Hence the ever increasing occurrence here in North America of pro-Hamas demonstrations and attacks on Jewish synagogues!
What better illustrates the intellectual/moral degeneracy of the contemporary Left than its reluctance to be critical of some of the truly vile aspects of Islam, while, as I discussed just recently, perfectly willing to destroy the career of a woman for daring to post a picture celebrating the joys of heterosexuality? This absurd double standard pervades out culture. Coincidentally, the aforementioned Tommy Robinson was just arrested after a speaking engagement in Calgary on grounds which seem to be utterly specious. Invited to Canada by Ezra Levant of the Rebel News Network, both men are now in trouble with the law for refusing to bow before the politically correct narrative on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, a transgression, of course, which falls into the demonstrably subjective category of Hate Speech. [ Apparently shouting “Death to America” is not hate speech. ] The plights of Levant and Robinson will be the subject of my next blog.
