The National Collegiate Athletic Association has nominated Lia Thomas as a worthy candidate for the title of Woman of the Year. Thomas, born Male, has of course been dominating the collegiate swim circuit as a transgender Female.
Martina Navratilova, an LGBT activist and certainly no right-wing reactionary, tweeted that the nomination was an affront to all Women.
On July 18 Pamela Geller discussed how the superficial dictates of Identity Politics had actually launched wars amongst various elements of the Left. A blind commitment to the entitlement of all those deemed to be oppressed was in fact entitling them to oppress each other! Quite aside from the obvious, negative impact of biological Males competing against those born Female, Geller cites radical Feminism’s demonization of the romance that formerly filled straight Men and Women with joy, pointing out that the male urge to defend and protect one’s mate is now deemed an aspect of “toxic masculinity” while the female urge to appear attractive to the opposite sex is seen as a capitulation to male oppression! “Women,” she said, “are being robbed of every good thing in our lives.”
The relationship between the sexes is infinitely more complex than that adversarial one defined by radical Feminism, each and every couple having its own unique dynamic. There are abusive, manipulative men as there are abusive, manipulative women yet there are hundreds of millions whose chief source of joy in life is the love of their heterosexual partner. Now, ironically, the Left, having poisoned the relationship between the sexes by simplistically demonizing the “patriarchy,” has set Transgenders against genuine Feminists by demonizing those who insist on the biological differences between Men and Women. Were a “conservative” to agree with Navratilova’s rational assessment that allowing Lia Thomas to trounce his/her female competition is grossly unfair, he would no doubt be denounced as a “hater.” It is why this blog is ironically entitled “the politics of hate.”
On June 20, The Blaze cited the experience of one Leslie Sinclair, a 66 year old Scottish male who had been donating blood for all of his adult life. Recently attempting to do so again, he was asked to fill out a form which included a declaration that he was not in fact pregnant. Finding the request absurd, he refused to fill in that portion of the form. As a result, his attempt to donate was denied. The director of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service explained that “inclusiveness” demanded all donors be subjected to the same questions. His statement is a perfect manifestation of the aversion to Reality underlying the specious Leftist notion of “inclusiveness” which refuses not only to acknowledge the obvious biological differences between Men and Women, but the multitude of biological differences evident throughout our species, differences which are clearly to some extent responsible for the disparate achievements of History’s various Civilizations. “Inclusiveness” entails the death of Rational Critical Analysis, indeed the death of Human Intelligence.
No subject is immune to the ignorance and irrationality that defines the Left. Western Colonialism, for example, is now more or less universally demonized throughout academia and the mainstream culture. I am certainly not exonerating the many sins of Western colonialists. But what we are being asked to accept is that they should have realized their assumption of the superiority of their world-view was utterly unjustified. Sir John A. McDonald ought to have known his Civilization’s Enlightenment endorsement of Science and Reason was in no way more evolved than the superstitions of the Indigenous. He ought to have known that his Residential Schools were not really designed to educate Canada’s natives but to humiliate them. Though he lived 150 years ago, he ought to have been a Postmodern Relativist! Such is the arrogant indifference to historical context typical of today’s “intellectuals.” Such is the contemporary submission of Objective Reality to the demands of sheer sentiment that informs all our discussions of race, gender, inequality, etc.. Such is the cultural climate that led a Collegiate Association, in a self-congratulating display of empathy for transgenders, to nominate an individual with a penis as its Woman of the Year!
