In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Hillary Clinton recently blamed Biden’s plummeting popularity on the “demagoguery” and “misinformation” so perversely exploited by “the other side” on social media. Of course those of her mind-set, slavishly venerated with few exceptions [i.e., Fox News] throughout the mainstream culture, resent the opportunities available to dissenting voices via the internet. Hillary says gullible Americans have been utterly misled about Biden’s many wonderful achievements.
No doubt she would characterize the anti-pipeline edicts of his first days in power as an example of one of those achievements, though as I have pointed out, they demonstrably increased America’s dependence on nations with no respect for the planet whatsoever while at the same time pushing the price of gas for consumers to hitherto unseen highs. Were Biden’s dictatorial actions on this issue above reproach or is Hillary’s assessment of the political scene and her revulsion for the “misinformation” spread online just another example of the Left’s insane disconnect from Reality? And what of Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and his mismanagement of the Southern border which has seen the release of tens of thousands of illegals, many of them possibly stricken with Covid, into various communities without their approval? Are these issues with which all Americans ought to be concerned or merely fabrications of right-wing “demagoguery”?
Nothing better illustrates the incontestable arrogance and stupidity of Biden and those behind him than his nomination of Saule Omarova to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Russian born Omarova, now a Law professor at Cornell, wrote a complimentary thesis on Karl Marx when still a student in her native country and continues to be a devout Marxist. Calling for the end of Western banking as we know it, she is fully in favor of putting the Federal Reserve in charge of all private bank accounts. While certainly the financial sector which she has referred to as the “quintessential a-hole industry” needs to be subject to the highest ethical standards, her approach to economic matters would seem to herald the beginning of the end of our free-enterprise system. At least 5 Democrats have already stepped forward and said they would not support her appointment. Without their support, it is not likely to happen.
In response to online criticism by “conservatives” of Omarova’s nomination, several “progressive” critics have invoked the McCarthy Era, referring to that criticism as but a latter day version of hateful “Red baiting.” It is what the contemporary Left inevitably does, eschewing a discussion of substance which it cannot win by simply hurling insults. It’s what Hillary did in her interview with Rachel Maddow, both of them so beleaguered by their sense of rectitude that they long ago ceased to be interested in the actual Truth.
