As reported by The Blaze on Jan. 25, 3 elderly men from Michigan and Ohio were shot on Jan. 17 in Osceola County, Florida, by the man who lived next to the home they had rented for their vacation. They had had no interaction with their assailant and his attack was cold blooded and utterly unprovoked. Their families are of course devastated by this senseless act of violence.
The perpetrator of this crime was Ahmad Jihad Bojeh who had been arrested in 2021 on an attempted murder charge from which he was exonerated on the grounds that he was not mentally fit to stand trial, i.e., that he was insane! The judge in this case, State Attorney Monique Worrell, while ruling that he could not be institutionalized against his will, did stipulate that he could no longer own a firearm.
Several months ago, well before Bojeh’s recent crime, Worrell publicly complained that Florida’s Attorney General, James Uthmeier, was trying to have her removed from office on the grounds that she was soft on crime. He backed up his charge with references to her rulings in various cases other than that concerning Bojeh. Having now been removed from her position as chief prosecutor for Orange and Osceola Counties, Worrell is adamantly denying that she is in any way responsible for the Jan. 17 shootings. Legal technicalities, she says, did not allow her to have Bojeh imprisoned or institutionalized. Moreover mental health experts had apparently opined that Bojeh was a danger to neither himself or others! Yet Sherriff Christopher Blackmon of Osceola County has said that Bojeh had in fact been a “frequent flyer” with local police who had been called several times by those who felt threatened by his behavior! Worrell’s self-defense, it seems to me, wreaks of desperation and a brazen attempt to deny that her release of Bojeh was in fact a violation of simple Common Sense!
It turns out that Attorney General Uthmeier is a Republican while Monique Worrell is a politically active Democrat. While I may be accused of dealing in stereotypes here, their divergent views on the maintenance of Law and Order would seem to be perfectly in keeping with their divergent political philosophies! Uthmeier clearly feels that Worrell had it within her power to keep Wojeh in custody in one way or another. That she chose not to do so was no doubt rooted in her empathy for him as an obviously troubled human being. But how naive if not stupid must one be to believe that an individual with his past would honor the court’s demand that he never again possess a firearm? And how warped must one’s concept of Law and Order be to take any chances whatsoever with the safety of the law abiding public which by definition is the demographic the Justice system is designed to protect?
Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, as his name suggests, is not of White European extraction, not a member of what the demented Left likes to refer to as the Privileged Class. That those who self-righteously see themselves as defenders of the “oppressed” should ignore the moral-intellectual status of the latter, is utterly absurd. That here in “progressive” North America every week presents us with new examples of innocent people violated by criminals released by our “forgiving” legal systems, is disgusting. As I have pointed out in earlier blogs, nothing more graphically illustrates the idiocy of the sort of compassion espoused by the Left than the 2022 stabbing of 11 Indigenous people in Saskatchewan by Myles Sanderson, an Indigenous Male who was still free after having been arrested over 50 times!
