If you don’t agree with it, it must be Misinformation, a Conspiracy Theory, etc.

Just a few days ago, the so-called Q Anon Shaman, Jacob Chansley, pleaded guilty to his participation in the Jan. 6 insurrection. The most conspicuous invader of the Capitol, Chansley was half naked, covered in paint and sported a fur headdress featuring buffalo horns! Q Anon, by the way, is an obscure cult given to the bizarre belief that America is under attack by a group of satanic pedophiles! Aside from his affiliation with that group, Chansley’s on-line suggestions that he might in fact be a Higher Being destined for another level of Reality would seem to qualify him for some serious psychological help rather than an extended stay in a jail cell. Yet while his attorney argued that he was unarmed, non-violent and peacefully cooperative with the demands of the Capitol Police on Jan. 6, it appears likely he is about to be sentenced to as many as four years in prison.

While it is appalling that the sanctimonious hypocrites of the Left, including their propagandists in the media, should stridently vilify individuals such as Chansley and the now deceased Ashli Babbitt while excusing if not denying thousands of acts of violence committed by members of Antifa and B.L.M., what is more disgusting is the supposedly apolitical assertion by the Department of Justice prosecutor that among the various absurd “conspiracy theories” fools such as Chansley were prone to believe was the notion that the “deep state” had somehow conspired to defeat Donald Trump.

Over and over and over again one sees references to the “big lie” that the 2020 election was somehow stolen from Trump. While investigations are still underway in various states regarding the conduct of that election, some of them producing fairly incriminating evidence of corruption, evidence which the mainstream media simply ignores, and while I am certainly not about to deny the obvious egotism/venality of the last president, his conviction that he was the victim of a “conspiracy” is not without merit, those who dismiss it as the delusion of a self-centered idiot being themselves deluded by their mindless submission to their own ideological biases.

As reported by The Epoch Times on Feb. 8 of this year, Time Magazine, hardly an organ of the alt-right, printed an article headlined “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.” According to Time, that campaign was spearheaded by “a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.” While anyone with so much as an iota of integrity might condemn this “shadow campaign” as a brazen act of duplicity perpetrated on the American public, the Time writer insists those responsible for it weren’t “rigging the election; they were fortifying it.”

Such a disgusting rationalization for what was in fact a “deep state” conspiracy to “rig” the election! The “logic” of the Time article is that the forces which conspired to do so were guiltless because their cause was just. Such “logic” signals the death of Democracy. Hitler thought his cause was just.; so also do the Taliban. In his novel “1984” Orwell inveighed against The Ministry of Truth responsible for brainwashing the citizens of Oceania. A Democratic Socialist, he saw the fascist Right as the chief threat to a healthy democracy. But inasmuch as “democratic socialism” is, as any number of genuine intellectuals have pointed out, an oxymoron, Socialism being by definition incompatible with Democracy, it is ironic yet not surprising that the closest thing we have today to a Ministry of Truth in the West is a cabal of sanctimonious Leftists.

No one is exonerating Trump of his many flaws. Sadly Biden is equally tainted. What is more appalling, however, is the inability of the intellectual, academic, artistic and journalistic communities to get beyond their Ideological Biases and confront Reality with any degree of honesty. The ultimate irony of that failure, of course, is their denial of the existence of conspiracies of which they are in fact the chief perpetrators, their selective approach to the truth sadly being a staple of contemporary political discourse. While certainly not intending to do so, the Time Magazine article actually validates this opinion.
