Tuesday, July 6…..Fairfield, California…..A couple in their 60s is shocked while having breakfast by an intruder who breaks down their front door….The legal possessor of a 357 Magnum, the man of the house fires two shots…..The intruder is found dead a short time later across the street…..He was apparently on parole for a previous violent crime.
Thursday, July 22…..Woodbridge, Virginia…..A 44 year old woman leaving her home just after midnight is approached by a masked man with a handgun who had been lurking at the side of her house….Also armed, she opens fire and he dies a short time later.
Tuesday, July 27…..Sebring, Florida…..A woman sitting alone in her car at 2:25 A.M. is shocked to see 4 thugs coming at her with obvious malice in mind ……. Grabbing her gun she fires a shot, apparently hitting no one….But the 4 run off.
Tuesday, Aug. 3…..Pleasant Hill, California…..Around 6 P.M. a neighborhood is disrupted by a man behaving erratically, vandalizing cars and apparently scrutinizing homes as possible targets….He is ultimately found wounded in the living room of a gun owner whose home he had invaded…..He would die later in hospital.
June, 2020…..Mark and Patricia McCloskey of St. Louis brandish weapons in front of their home in an attempt to intimidate a horde of B.L.M. “protesters” several of whom had breached the perimeters of their property…..Excoriated in the mainstream media as privileged, White racists, they each plead guilty to misdemeanors while those by whom they had felt threatened, those who had in fact trespassed, are spared charges of any kind. Just recently, Mark Parson, the Governor of Missouri, fully exonerated the McCloskeys. To anyone with a scintilla of common sense, his decision was unequivocally right.
Each of the victims of aggression cited above was innocent of any wrongdoing. None of them had incited their assailants, had any idea of their intentions or, in the stress of the moment, any opportunity to inquire after such. Not knowing if they were about to be robbed, raped or murdered, they had every right to defend themselves as they saw fit. The notion that the McCloskeys ought to have known they were dealing with “peaceful protesters” is absurd and one can find dozens of videos to prove it. And of course they never fired a shot.
I have no problem whatsoever with the banning of certain military style weapons in the States. But implicit in the “woke” culture of the Left is the notion that “conservatives” defending their Second Amendment Right to bear arms are somehow contributing to the pandemic of violence that is devastating their country. It is a delusion born of the “progressive” elimination of Morality from the human narrative. It’s not bad people that kill others, apparently, but the ready availability of weapons. Those given to this incredibly naive, incredibly superficial vision of the species, refuse to grant that in a country where civilians are deprived of the right to bear arms, those intent on evil will arm themselves one way or another, thereby leaving the innocent utterly vulnerable to their assaults. At the same time they simply ignore the findings of books such as John Lott’s “More Guns, Less Crime” which offers statistical evidence that in States where a high percent of the law abiding population carries concealed weapons, violent crime, for obvious reasons, goes down accordingly.
From the “moral” perspective defended here, the crime rate among inner city Blacks is a direct result of the amoral message of the Left which quite literally has been telling them they have a right to loathe White people, a right to defy cops, a right to plunder retail outlets, indeed a right to pillage the streets of their very own country. That same narrative of Victimhood is fed impoverished Whites who feel that they too, in no way responsible for their plight, have somehow been wronged by a cruel, cruel world.
July 27…..A young couple who had come to a Seattle area homeless camp to retrieve stolen goods they were pretty certain they would find there, is attacked by a mob bearing rocks, clubs and a machete. As they attempt to drive off, their 2 year old son in the car, they accidentally kill one of their assailants. No doubt the poisonous rhetoric of the Left contributed to the outrage of the mob, the homeless being perhaps the ultimate victims of a heartless society, a society aptly represented by this privileged, White, middle-class couple.
How ironic that a political narrative which never stops inciting hatred and resentment among various grossly stereotyped classes, should mindlessly dismiss any criticism of its tactics as “hate speech!”
The opening paragraphs of this blog cited several gun owning Americans who used their weapons to fend off criminal attacks, in some cases killing their assailants. I have no sympathy for the latter. They ruthlessly, stupidly, initiated the events that led to their demise. The Blaze has just published an article highlighting various unprovoked acts of violence in the streets of N.Y.C. over the last month, among them such lovely manifestations of the human spirit as a vicious assault on a 60 year old woman simply going about her business in the Grand Central subway station. Using Covid as their excuse, the Democrats in charge of California have released 20,000 convicted felons back into mainstream society. At the same time, crime ravaged cities such as Portland, apparently regretting their demonization of the police, have sought to entice new recruits to the fold but, gee, for some reason, few seem interested!
Evil will always exist but the Neo-Marxist dementia of the Left does nothing but encourage it. There are billions of decent human beings who would never consider engaging in violence against others out of socio-economic envy. I stand with them. Anyone of a moral perspective stands with them. All “conservatives” stand with them. And should those who have decided the Laws of Civilized Society do not apply to them be slaughtered in giving vent to their pathological egotism, so be it. They have been rewarded with their just deserts.
I am in no way fully exonerating the behavior of Derek Chauvin. But what better exemplifies the moral bankruptcy of our “progressive” Civilization than the construction of monuments commemorating a drug-addicted, oft-arrested felon such as George Floyd?
