I recently watched a 2017 Fox News interview with Milo Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart commentator generally dismissed by the Left as a right-wing fanatic. The interview left me with the impression that he was not above making controversial statements simply to get noticed. Yet his defense of Free Speech as an integral aspect of any healthy Democracy made perfect sense. I do not need to agree with all of his opinions to allow him to continue to speak. Indeed I absolutely disagree with some of his views on contemporary Feminism. Yet a comment he made on Islam which was much reviled by liberals, was, ironically, not racist but a defense of Western liberalism itself. It read: “Muslims are allowed to get away with almost anything.”
Aspects of traditional Islam which are still endorsed in many foreign nations include the treatment of Women as the mere possessions of Men, loathing for and indeed the criminalization of Homosexuality, and a general intolerance for all those of differing religious views. Were a White Male to endorse such an ignorant world-view here in the West, he would no doubt be almost universally reviled and perhaps fired, cancelled or even imprisoned. Coincidentally, Yiannopoulos, on far more questionable grounds, has been banished from both Facebook and Twitter.
Am I suggesting the West should cease accepting migrants from all Islamic nations? Of course not! But I do maintain the open border policies of the European Union and Biden’s America to be absolutely idiotic, while also insisting our governments have every right to inform all Muslim immigrants that evidence of their adherence to the truly medieval beliefs of mainstream Islam will not be tolerated and indeed may result in their expulsion from their newfound homelands. This assertion, of course, will be deemed racist and hateful by the Left which refuses to acknowledge the inarguable fact that the religion in question is anti-progressive in every way. As I have pointed out in earlier blogs, Muslims such as Turkey’s Tayyip Erdogan have openly expressed their desire to Islamize the entire Western world. A Nov. 22 piece in Canada’s National Post made it eminently clear that the naive approach to immigration celebrated by the “progressive” Left is truly inane and potentially catastrophic.
The article in question concerns Mosab Hassan Yousef, a son of one of the founders of Hamas who in the late 90s, as a 20 year old, became utterly disgusted with the group’s Jihadist barbarism and actually began acting as a secret agent for the Israelis. Coming out with the publication of his 2010 work “Son of Hamas,” he is now an American citizen whose primary goal seems to be educating Westerners on the very real threat posed by Islamic fundamentalists whom, he says, feel perfectly justified in lying in order to gain entry to Western Nations they intend to ultimately submit to the rule of Allah.
Yousef points out the ludicrous irony of the fact that Hamas is no doubt thrilled by the anti-Israeli narrative championed by so many “progressives” here in the West, a narrative which portrays the Jews as genocidal monsters. That Toronto and other Canadian cities recently raised the Palestinian flag out of sympathy for those killed in Israel’s attempt to to eradicate Hamas, is absurd yet typical of the “inclusive” Left’s indifference to the moral/intellectual integrity of those involved in such conflicts.
It is difficult, of course, for “progressives” to demonize one such as Mosab Hassan as a racist inasmuch as he is of the very race he is denouncing. Statements by White Westerners such as Glenn Beck, however, are far more vulnerable to the mindless moral outrage of the “compassionate” Left. Ironically, Beck’s Dec. 13 Blaze post in which he insists that Islam is as great a threat to Western Democracies as is Communism, was followed almost immediately by the Dec. 14 assault on dozens of Australian Jews who were simply attempting to celebrate Hanukkah. Their assailant, apparently, was heard to shout Allahu Akbar as he opened fire! Did Australia’s lax immigration policies have anything to do with the deaths of 15 innocent Jews and the wounding of 38 others? Are Canadian cities which raise the Palestinian flag actually encouraging violence against Jews?
Such questions are not subject to simplistic answers. Trump’s suggestion that all migrants from Third World countries ought to be expelled from the U.S.. is one such answer. At the same time Western Governments, it seems to me, have every right to demand that those seeking to enter their domain not harbor views which are illiberal in every way, as are, of course, the views of Orthodox Islam. The solution, then, to preventing the Western World from being infected with the truly medieval principles of many of its immigrants, is the Free Speech habitually extolled by “conservatives” such as Milo Yiannopoulos, speech which, while in many cases defending our truly liberal values, is consistently reviled by the brain-dead Left as no more than the ranting of Islamophobic Racists! Truly ridiculous!
