It’s called Integrity not Betrayal!

Today the Blaze News Network published a piece entitled: “13 Republicans vote with Democrats to defy executive order from Trump.”

Yesterday the House approved a bill rejecting Trump’s March Executive Order which sought to cancel the bargaining rights of unionized workers in various federal departments. Without the support of 13 Republicans, the “Support America’s Workforce Act” would not have passed. Trump maintained his tactic was essential to America’s ability to defend itself. Were those 13 Republicans who defied him traitors or men of integrity?

Due process is an essential element of any Democracy. I, as are most “conservatives,” am appalled by the Left’s disdain for the rights of others to express their dissenting opinions. But “conservatives” cannot loathe the authoritarian impulses of the Left while being equally oppressive themselves. One would assume that if America’s security was indeed being jeopardized by the actions of a given federal department, both political parties would think nothing of violating legal precedent in their attempt to resolve the issue. But barring such an extreme situation, a President’s executive orders must conform to certain constitutional criteria. The 13 Republicans who chose to defend the rights of those employed by the federal government by voting with the Democrats were not, it seems to me, traitors, but people of conscience, people who felt Trump had overstepped his authority. Were such Integrity common on both sides of the political divide, it seems to me, we would not be experiencing the animosity that is presently making rational political debate almost impossible.
