On Aug. 8 Liz Wheeler of The Blaze News Network produced a piece on the character of Kamala’s husband Doug Emhoff, whose previous life apparently reveals him to be a cheating jerk. However true or untrue her article’s assertions, I find attempts to discredit politicians through such personal attacks quite unfair. The details of Kamala’s relationship with her husband are beyond our ken. Of course were she to display a brazen disrespect for the rule of law or a habitual tendency to lie, she would fully deserve any public criticisms she might receive. But such dangerous flaws notwithstanding, a good deal of the political commentary we read and hear these days seems rooted more in personal bias than a rational concern for those policies that might best lead us forward. The irony of my suggestion that The Blaze is perhaps being unfair to Kamala, is that 90% of the unwarranted, personal [i.e., “ad hominem”] attacks in the mainstream media today, come from the sanctimonious Left which, bereft of any rational rebuttals of its political opponents, simply calls them names! Should a “conservative” criticize a person of Color, he is of course a Racist. Should he criticize a Woman, he’s a misogynist. Should he, as I did in a recent blog, point out the brazen chauvinism of traditional Islam, he is an “islamophobe.” Such “ad hominem” attacks are rampant among “progressives” because Reason really has very little to do with their Religion of Inclusiveness!
Were I an American citizen, I would not vote for Kamala in November’s election because of the speciousness of her Ideas and Values, rather anything pertaining to her relationship with her husband!
