N.Y. Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer recently denounced the Republican “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act” as just another example of the “Jim Crow” racism of the political Right. The act simply demands that every voter show unequivocal evidence of their American Citizenship in order to cast a vote in a federal election. The hypocrisy of Schumer’s denunciation of the act was today [Mar.10] exposed by Blaze News which cited his 1996 response to the very same issue in which he fervently defended the need for Voter Integrity.
I bring this up simply to illustrate how the Left has changed over the years. While I may very well have been a Liberal in the 60s, disgusted with various genuinely oppressive aspects of America’s Culture, I would nevertheless have still been a staunch defender of the Rule of Law! But the Left no longer goes there, relentlessly denouncing certain perfectly rational initiatives as just further examples of White Supremacism! Schumer’s hypocrisy is but another example of the Moral/Intellectual degeneracy of the contemporary Left, and it is pathetic!
