Our Sick, Sick Culture!

When the vast majority of one’s friends seem to share the same world-view, those not prone to rational introspection simply fall victim to the dominant political biases of their era. It is that state of mindless acquiescence that has led even my most educated of acquaintances to fall in line with many of the truly ridiculous doctrines of those committed to the Neo-Marxist, Intellectually Null world-view of the Left.

On Mar. 18, The Daily Wire posted the first of what Ben Shapiro said would be 5 shows devoted to exposing the absurdity of Derek Chauvin’s conviction as the second degree murderer of George Floyd. Whereas the crime of manslaughter is deemed to be devoid of malice or intent, second degree murder, while not premeditated, is deemed to be a deliberate act of homicide. Chauvin is set to spend over 20 years in prison for his apparent act of hatred! This, Shapiro suggests, is a sentence rooted not in the facts of May 25, 2020, but in the bias of a culture that has succumbed to the simplistic Leftist notion that White America is systemically racist, that White cops take pleasure in tormenting people of colour, that Derek Chauvin killed Floyd primarily because he was Black.

A host of circumstantial factors suggest that Chauvin had no intention of ending Floyd’s life. The latter had been ranting that he could not breathe long before Chauvin knelt on him. Obviously unaware that his prisoner was a relentless abuser of hard drugs which had devastated his body, Chauvin no doubt assumed Floyd’s rants to be an inane attempt to escape his captors. When Shapiro confronted Stephen A. Smith, a Black T.V. personality, with the facts of Floyd’s autopsy which proved the dire state of his health, Smith responded that he was not interested in such incidental crap, that Floyd’s death was clearly the result of a racist cop who was in fact an apt reflection of his racist country. It is Mr. Smith and not Shapiro, I would suggest, who is in fact the Racist!

The many facts cited by Shapiro suggest the 22 years to which Chauvin was sentenced to be incredibly harsh, given the ambiguities surrounding his case. But what is not ambiguous is the fact that George Floyd was a degenerate, drug addicted human being with a lengthy criminal record. This is a rational, moral judgment utterly devoid of racial bias. The Left’s imperviousness to morality, on the other hand, was gloriously manifest in its inane decision to canonize Floyd, to make him the symbol of its sacred crusade. Yes, who better to represent a holy cause than a violent, drug addicted, career criminal!

I am not exonerating Chauvin of his poor judgment in causing Floyd’s death. But that he should spend 22 years behind bars seems absolutely absurd. So also is the fact that the city of Minneapolis felt it necessary to award the Floyd family 27 million dollars out of compassion for the demise of their criminal son! But such absurdities are hardly rare here in the “progressive” West. The B.L.M. protests of 2020 resulted in the deaths of 50 people, injuries to approximately 700 cops and 2 billion dollars in property damages across the States. Yet the “journalists” of CNN, M.S.N.B.C., etc., repeatedly referred to those protests as mainly peaceful. Brazenly lying is apparently acceptable on the contemporary Left. Go to your computer and you will find multiple articles condemning the police in various cities for using tear gas and other forms of force in attempting to quell what in many cases were little more than riots. But if you are the member of an “oppressed minority,” rioting is your revolutionary right in the Neo-Marxist “ethos.”. Quite literally, Law and Order is only marginally important to the many Leftist ideologues who dominate our mainstream news media.

What if a Black cop had ended the life of a degenerate White criminal in a tension fraught confrontation similar to that involving Chauvin and Floyd? Would the media have exploded with outrage? Would the officer in question be in jail today? Of course not! And the evidence is incontrovertible!

On Jan. 6, 2021, Black Capitol police officer Michael Byrd shot Ashli Babbitt as she attempted to climb through a Capitol Building window. Babbitt, a former member of America’s military who considered herself a patriot, was unarmed and posed no serious threat to Byrd whatsoever. In defending himself Byrd argued that he had shot Babbitt only as a “last resort” and that in doing so he had “saved countless lives.” This is an outrageous lie borne out by the fact that the “insurrectionists” made no attempt to kill anyone that day, indeed that their designation as insurrectionists is but another example of the brazen bias of the mainstream media, the voice of the very cancer against which those such as Babbitt were protesting. The legitimacy of their cause, of course, has been validated by the fact that Byrd has spent not a second behind bars for his needless murder of an unarmed White Woman! Such is the insane bias that dominates our Left leaning Dystopia! Donald Trump, by the way, is considering reopening the Babbitt case. While I harbour no malice towards Byrd who obviously panicked in shooting Babbitt, it seems only just that both her death and that of George Floyd should be subject to legal scrutiny utterly devoid of racial considerations. Under conservative leadership in both the U.S. [?] and Canada, perhaps such sanity may once again come to inform the Rule of Law here in the Democratic West.

But one more example of the bias that infects our Culture. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission met for 6 years or so evaluate the extent to which Canada’s treatment of its Indigenous, as exemplified by its Residential Schools, was not only racist but ultimately genocidal. Ignoring the benefits those schools granted to thousands of Indians whose families are now thriving members of our society, the Commission predictably concluded Canada to be a cesspool of White arrogance. John A. McDonald’s repeated references to the Indigenous as “savages” were apparently perfect examples of that arrogance, though this judgment ludicrously holds him to the standards of Post-Modern Relativism which he would have deemed preposterous. Given the evolution of his Civilization from the era of Socrates to that of the Enlightenment, our first Prime Minister was simply being Rational in judging Canada’s Indigenous to be significantly unevolved. And yet the Truth and Reconciliation Commission ruled against him, characterizing the Residential Schools not as attempts to educate the Indigenous but to simply destroy their culture. Naturally the policy of removing children from their parent’s care on various reservations was deemed indefensibly cruel rather than a move essential to their educational progress. While I am certainly not suggesting Canada’s treatment of its Indians to be beyond criticism, the Commission’s rulings on most every issue before it were typically Leftist, typically simplistic, invoking the classic Neo-Marxist meme that reduces all of life’s outcomes to matters of Oppression. Yet upon reflection, one realizes it could not have ruled otherwise. The Chairman of the Commission, you see, was one Murray Sinclair, an Indigenous Canadian whose main goal in life was to expose the horrors of Canada’s genocidal treatment of his people. That he might have lacked Objectivity was apparently of no concern to those who chose him, those “liberals” for whom the Historical Facts and the Complexities of Life always take a back seat to their ideological delusions.

Evert Nation in every Age, it seems, has its Bias. The philosophers of the Enlightenment saw Reason as the antidote to this dilemma. While Reason is generally demeaned by the Left for its heartlessness, it is in fact the guiding light of the many conservatives I admire. Unfortunately, the present leader of the U.S., while most of his policies make perfect sense [i.e., restoring border security, reducing monstrous bureaucracies, eliminating D.E.I. quotas, etc.], is prone to opinions that are both arrogant and absurd. His imperfections, however, in no way nullify the fact that Rational, Humanist Conservatism is the only answer to the absurd, irrational sentimentalism that has dominated Western Civilization for several decades now!
