As noted by Juno News on Nov. 18, British Columbia’s Human Rights Commissioner, Kasari Govender, recently denounced the criminalization of drugs such as fentanyl as a typically White, Western, “colonialist” abuse of power. While approximately 16000 have apparently died in B.C. since 2016 as a result of their addictions, Govender recommends government sponsored injection sites offering toxin-free drugs as the solution to this pandemic. Yes, make the use of radically life-altering drugs a perfectly acceptable aspect of Canadian life.
While the drugs in question, even if they don’t kill their users, must inevitably imperil their ability to live a productive life, they also, inevitably, will have dire consequences for those close to them. The criminalization of hard drugs is rooted in simple common sense, in a compassionate attempt to banish a practice whose repercussions are negative in every way. That B.C.’s Human Rights Commissioner sees this aspect of Western Law as typically “oppressive” is just another example of the contemporary Left’s absurd insistence on equating perfectly rational mandates with White Supremacism, racism, hatred, etc.. Hence the demonization of Sir John A. MacDonald’s attempt to imbue Canada’s Indigenous population with Reason and Science as an act of cultural genocide. Hence this ridiculous world in which the self-righteous Left, which reduces everything to a matter of Race, accuses all those who oppose it as “Racists!”
