Sorry. This is going to be a long one. But it has to be.
According to the evidence, 99% of the tens of thousands of protesters who marched in Washington on Jan. 6 remained peaceful. It was, apparently, a few hundred who invaded the Capital Building. Reaction to the day’s startling events perfectly illustrates the huge gap in moral/intellectual integrity separating the Left from the Right.
Every Republican I have seen interviewed, including the President, as well as every “conservative” commentator to whom I subscribe, has emphatically condemned the outbreak of violence. Their stance was based on Principle, on belief in the Rule of Law, on the conviction that as soon as you begin granting exemptions from that Rule, you are well on the way back to the primeval jungle.
As I have cited repeatedly, Leftist Ideologues are fundamentally skeptical of that Principle, embracing the Marxist notion that the Law is more often than not a vehicle of Oppression. Indeed since George Floyd’s death in May, Democratic politicians and mainstream media simpletons have repeatedly downplayed and defended the violence in America’s streets as a justifiable response to a regime that is “systemically” corrupt. Their grossly simplistic vision apparently grants them the right to sanction violations of the fundamental Principles of Democracy while hypocritically denouncing all those who take exception to those violations as pernicious threats to Democracy. It’s a double standard that has metastasized throughout our culture. It’s one of the factors that contributed to the assault on the Capitol, Enlightenment Rationalists being perfectly correct in their assumption that granting any given group the right to violate the Law naturally encourages others to do the very same. It’s a Principle apparently too sophisticated for the likes of A.O.C., Kamala, Nancy P., Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon, etc., etc.
Almost without exception, those Blacks killed by U.S. cops under questionable circumstances have been engaged in some sort of criminal activity. While Martin Luther King strongly advocated for social justice for his people, he continued to subscribe to a Moral vision of the species, a perspective from which human interactions are assessed in all their complexity rather than submitted to a simplistic, Ideologically prescribed formula. But the political Left is addicted to such a formula, in any conflict between the powerful and the powerless, between the wealthy and the poor, always assuming the latter to be the innocent victims of the former. It is a specious vision that trades in generalizations and stereotypes. It is a vision that is intellectually and morally bankrupt. Because it is so, its proponents inevitably resort to the hurling of insults and hate filled rants. Rational debate is literally their enemy; mindless contempt for all opponents their natural state of mind. As so aptly stated by David Horowitz: “Inside every Progressive is a Totalitarian Screaming to get out.” This is not mere rhetoric!
As is to be expected, therefore, those thousands who came from across the States to peacefully protest what they deemed to be a possibly rigged election are now being simplistically equated to the thugs who broke into the Capital. All Republicans, indeed all “conservatives” apparently represent an insidious threat to Democracy. It’s the way “progressives” operate.
The Left claims Trump’s insistence that the election result was fraudulent is just another example of his incredible arrogance. Is his character so inclined? No doubt. But the denial of the Fact that there were unprecedented breaches of the Law in various States even before Nov. 3 is brazenly dishonest. Challenges to the legitimacy of the election were not simply post-facto sour grapes. In Oct. for example, Republicans challenged Democratically run Pennsylvania’s decision to radically alter the rules governing mail-in votes without submitting that decision to the legally prescribed legislative process, but failed in their perfectly justified motion due to the fact that the Federal Supreme Court, having not yet replaced the deceased Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was split 4-4 between Democrats and Republicans. While the Coronavirus was used to justify the State’s decision to send mail-in ballots to its citizens, its elimination of signature validation criteria is truly bizarre, indeed would seem to have been an open invitation to fraudulence. Trump’s press secretary Kayleigh McEnany wondered aloud why it was only those states dominated by the Democrats that sought such changes. Google this issue and you will be greeted by a number of articles claiming there is no co-relation between mail-in voting and fraud. The N.Y. Times recently published an article claiming as much. It is a BRAZEN LIE! In the past, when it suited The Time’s agenda, it published an article claiming the very opposite. Indeed in 2005 a report co-chaired by Jimmy Carter stated that mail-in voting represented a dire threat to Democracy itself. Of course that was in response to the election of George W. Bush, aspects of which were strenuously grieved by the Democrats at the time. The Truth, it would seem, is merely a matter of convenience to the sanctimonious Left. Let us examine just a fraction of the “progressive” dishonesty, hypocrisy and outright stupidity which has led the States to this perilous moment.
It has been reported that long before Trump invoked his followers to come to the Capitol to express their concerns with the legitimacy of the election, security personnel there had been informed of an impending attack by right wing extremists. But while there was clearly a core of such who breached the Capitol with violence on their minds, many amongst them were otherwise motivated. You have no doubt seen pictures of Richard Barnett sitting casually at Nancy Pelosi’s desk, clearly expressing his contempt for everything she says and does. While I in no way condone him being there, I share that contempt 100%. Yet to read the hyperbolic media accounts of the 6th, one would think the tens of thousands peacefully marching in the streets were all intent on burning the Capitol to the ground. Ironically, those given to that hyperbole were the very same “reporters” who, as flames soared into the sky behind them, insisted that the months long protests of Antifa and BLM were really decidedly peaceful! Please explain to me why the scores of deaths, the 700 or so injured cops and the material devastation wrought on thousands of law abiding citizens by those “peaceful protests” were any less repulsive than the threats to the well-being of the politicians cringing inside the Capitol. The hypocrisy of many of the latter who have posted heart rending accounts of the terror they experienced on Jan. the Sixth after having remained silent about the terror inflicted on thousands of innocent Americans throughout 2020, is truly disgusting.
[ When Trump offered military assistance to Mayor Lori Lightfoot to put an end to the violence that had plagued Chicago for several days, she rejected it outright, characterizing the offer as a “threat.” The mainstream media generally agreed with this bizarre violation of Reason. Apparently Lightfoot’s loathing of Trump and concern for her political stature took precedence over concern for her citizens. But when the welfare of her own family came under attack, she surrounded the block on which she lives with 150 cops! The double-standard, once again! That she is still in office is, to repeat myself, truly disgusting.]
While “conservatism” is rooted in Reason and the Values and Institutions it spawns, it of course attracts its share of those utterly impervious to such. But isn’t it interesting that one John Earle Sullivan, a known Trump hater and the founder of Insurgence U.S.A., has just been arrested for his involvement in the Capitol fiasco. A Black man who claims to have come from Utah strictly to record the racism and intolerance of all Trump supporters, his video clearly reveals him to have actively incited violence, at one point shouting “Let’s burn this shit down!” What more perfectly illustrates the inadequacy of the Left’s simplistic Them vs. Us approach to the issues under consideration?
[And what better exemplifies the absolute pollution of the U.S legal system with Leftist bias than the fact that on Friday, Jan. 15, a Federal judge released Sullivan unconditionally?]
Covered in face paint, sporting Viking headgear including enormous horns, Jacob Chansley was also arrested for his part in what the media characterized as a massive political “insurrection.” Given his words on the Sixth as well as the evidence of previous statements, he was charged with the intent to capture and assassinate his political targets. Of course his character was used to impugn the motives of all those who broke into the Capital. But it turns out that in earlier posts he had also claimed to be a Higher Being from another Realm. It turns out he’s actually nuts and would seem to represent no one but himself!
Black “conservative” Shelby Steele says those on the Left try to exploit racist resentment because it is all they have. Nancy Pelosi, as if to prove his point, says the D.C. demonstrators chose their Whiteness over Democracy. While they may have thought they were there to challenge the results of the election, they were really motivated by Racism. Congratulations Nancy. Your ability to foment hatred even as you descry it in others is truly remarkable. Would I were capable of your gross simplifications and rationalizations.
Of course she’s not alone. Michelle Obama has repeatedly equated any criticism of B.L.M. with racism. While I don’t have a racist cell in my body, I strongly oppose the Marxist agenda of that movement’s founders. Unable or unwilling to repudiate such concerns, unable or unwilling to argue Ideas, Michelle, in typical Leftist fashion, makes it all about Hate. As if to highlight her mindless bias, she also has repeatedly referred to the protests of B.L.M as peaceful. Last I checked, they had destroyed over two billion dollars of other people’s property!
Are you aware that in many academic circles it is being taught that Black people can’t possibly be Racists? It’s the Marxist formula in all its glorious stupidity!
Coincidentally, Joe Biden’s choice to head the Civil Right’s Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, a Black woman named Kristen Clarke, while at Harvard in the Nineties declared that Blacks’ elevated levels of melanin made them mentally, physically and spiritually superior to White people. While she may have more recently renounced this remarkably stupid, racist opinion, has there been much discussion by those in the mainstream media of the wisdom of her appointment? Of course not. The Truth doesn’t concern them. Imagine the paroxysms of virtue signalling at C.N.N. were it to be discovered that Trump had made similar assertions about White people 25 years ago!
Patrisse Cullors, one of the Marxist founders of B.L.M., said of the events of Jan. 6: “I’m really disturbed by how far we’ve allowed white supremacist violence to reign in this country.” Ninety percent of the crowd didn’t know any violence had occurred ’til they got home that night. Along with a host of others, Cullors suggested the breach of the Capitol building would have been greeted with far more violence had the intruders been Black. Indeed she seemed to be implying that a dozen or so White deaths would have made her happy! To me her comments identify her as a truly spiteful if not racist human being. But is her observation true? Were the rioters of B.L.M and Antifa treated significantly more harshly because many of them were Black?
Did you know that in Minneapolis, in response to the riots shortly after George Floyd’s death, the police retreated and allowed the protesters to occupy one of their stations, a building which was soon torched, so as to avoid any loss of life? Considering the anarchy unleashed on America for months on end, the number of fatalities among the anarchists was remarkably low. Indeed the case can be made that the police were unduly lenient precisely because of the Color of many of the protesters! While some of those entrusted to guard the Capitol did seem to treat the intruders with kid gloves, perhaps because of their own political beliefs, perhaps because many of the protesters were unarmed, a young White woman, Ashli Babbit, an Air Force veteran and patriot, was shot and killed with little justification whatsoever. In response to the fact that Security forces were unprepared for what occurred in spite of having been forewarned, several individuals have already been fired. Cullors’ deliberately incendiary charge notwithstanding, it would seem much more than Race was involved in the handling of the assault on the Capitol. What one can say without hesitation, however, is that were Ashli Babbit a Black women, half the cities in the States would have been in flames for several days. And that’s a FACT!
On Sat., Jan 9, a pro-Trump rally in San Diego was disrupted by a mob of Antifa/B.L.M. protesters who continually chanted “Racists Go Home.” I am hardly in any position to speak on the accuracy of that characterization, but one of the signs of the anti-Trump crowd read “Ashli Babbit Deserved It.” Lovely! The death of violent Black criminals at the hands of police is cause for moral outrage and widespread mayhem, but the death of an innocent young White woman who made an admittedly foolish decision is cause for celebration. You tell me, who were the Racists on the streets of San Diego on Jan. 9?
The scores of poll watchers who came forward willing to sign affidavits that they had witnessed some extremely incriminating irregularities at their stations have been without exception dismissed. No trials were held, no prolonged investigations were pursued. While Bob Cushman of Detroit seemed eminently credible in his claim that he had been denied access to some key procedures, the authorities of that city rejected his testimony as just so much nonsense. The same fate awaited Brian McCafferty of Philadelphia. Interesting, is it not, that Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, tweeted before the election that the very thought of a Trump victory was unbearable. Were his minions charged to rigorously investigate the possibility of election fraud? Is it possible his hatred of Trump might have given way to his respect for the Constitution? Of course not! And yet Democrats and the Media would seem to be asking us to accept unequivocally that all those willing to testify about the suspicious events of Nov. 3 and 4 were liars, while those consumed by fanatical loathing for the Right, including themselves, would never dream of cheating.
Are you aware that Rasmussen Reports, a polling service, revealed that 30% of the Democrats questioned after Nov. 3 thought it was “somewhat likely” that the election had been stolen? And 20% thought it was “very likely!” These were Democrats, people, not effing, lying Republicans!
While Trump undeniably invited his followers to Washington to protest the results of the election, both on the morning of the 6th and later that evening he insisted they respect the Rule of Law. Promising a peaceful transition of power, he has since asked that Biden’s inauguration not be disrupted with violence. That he has been impeached for a second time on the grounds that he meant things he never actually said, is stupendously hypocritical. In the past, massive demonstrations before the Capitol have been conducted by Suffragettes, Civil Rights Activists, Union leaders, etc. An unbiased assessment of Trump’s speeches reveals he was asking for nothing more. As California Republican Doug LaMalfa recently said in addressing the House of Representatives, Democrats want him banished from politics because they hate him and they hate him because he is pro-Life, pro-Israel, against illegal immigration and unwilling to bow before the demonstrably hypothetical though fanatically defended Religious Mania of Man Made Global Warming. His impeachment, in other words, is just another example of the Left’s intolerance for any point of view other than its own! Democrats don’t want him to run again, and they don’t want him to run again because, for all his flaws, he is one of the few politicians unwilling to back down from a culture that is devastatingly awash in totalitarian Leftist bigotry.
I support The Rebel here in Canada, a news organization that espouses truly “conservative” values even as Conservative politicians cautiously keep their distance. They do so because Canada has been so overwhelmed by the anti-Western, Neo-Marxist narrative of the Left, that supporting the rational, Enlightenment Principles underlying our Democracies now ensures political defeat. We have endured Indigenous disruptions of the public peace for years and no politician has dared impose the Rule of Law. We have watched environmental radicals impede the building of various extensively researched pipelines and no politician has dared impose the Rule of Law. So demented is the cultural climate here in Canada that when a group of young White males in Alberta peacefully cleared some railway tracks of debris left there by protesters to disrupt work on an energy project, Maclean’s magazine denounced them as “vigilantes” and “White nationalists” while of course implying the mob which had incited the incident to be the noble defenders of all that is true and just!
When the Left breaks the law, it does so to widespread applause. When the Right expresses its outrage, it is summarily denounced. Mainstream Western Civilization has been veering in this direction ever since that drug-drenched, fecal-scented festival of Self-Indulgence at Woodstock 50 years ago. [As there was an insufficient number of potties, many simply shat in the open fields.]
While The Rebel frequently discusses the absurdity of Canada’s policy of undermining its energy sector while continuing to import fuel from countries with appalling human rights records and no respect for the environment whatsoever, our mainstream media rarely chooses to go anywhere near this topic. Supine before the narrative of Man-Made CO2 which makes Western Technology the root of all Evil, it scornfully denounces anyone skeptical of that narrative as a “denier” while itself fanatically denying all sorts of evidence, including the geological record, inimical to its religious certainties.
Those in the “news” business South of the border are no less abject in their unacknowledged but relentless advocacy for the Left. They are in a very real way engaged in Fake News. Having just chosen to agree with one of Trump’s oft repeated complaints, I have of course revealed myself to be a racist, misogynist, Neo-Nazi, White Supremacist, blah, blah, blah.
Evidence of the corruption of a significant portion of the American Media and its High Tech Internet confederates is everywhere. Of course if you rely on said sources for your information, this is just another “conspiracy theory.” But James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas recently revealed it had recorded a host of telephone conversations among the executives at CNN in which they openly conspired, as Nov. 3 approached, to focus on those items most detrimental to Trump while judiciously avoiding any mention of those which might hurt Biden. Ironically, typically, Wikipedia refers to Project Veritas as an “extreme” right-wing group given to exposing “supposed” liberal bias in the media, but the recordings made public by O’Keefe were clearly valid and proved beyond a doubt that CNN has no more integrity than Pravda.
How much attention have the major American Networks and Newspapers devoted to investigating the attempt by Barack and Hillary, in the summer of 2016, to distract attention from her thousands of mysteriously “disappeared ” and possibly incriminating e-mails by using the FBI to investigate Trump’s collusion with Russia, a witch hunt which went on well into his administration but never amounted to much of anything. Several agents involved in the investigation have testified that they felt guilty for abetting an illegal effort seemingly based on crass political self-interest. As Lee Smith of the Epoch Times has revealed, the CIA informed both the FBI and Obama that the charge of “Russian collusion” was nonsense yet he refused to call off his hounds. I understand that Barack is infinitely more charming than Trump and the latter is hardly a saint. But when did “charm” become the deciding factor in our moral valuations?
Nixon’s legacy will forever be tarnished by Watergate. But is not what many “conservatives” refer to as Obamagate, the effort to destroy Trump by using the FBI against him even before he was elected, equally deplorable? Would any contemporary U.S. network even dream of comparing Obama to Nixon?
Those willing to investigate Joe Biden’s trip to the Ukraine with his son in 2014 would have to be idiots not to suspect him of a conflict of interest given Hunter’s subsequent award of a lucrative post with a Ukrainian energy company. But the Trump-hating media wasn’t interested, indeed scrupulously avoided any mention of the situation as the 2020 election approached. Miraculously, shortly after Nov. 3, CNN discovered that the FBI had been investigating Hunter for years! Did a corrupt media actually determine the outcome of the election? Might an honest appraisal of the Biden family’s finances have given Trump the few hundred thousand votes he needed to win?
Perhaps no better example of the outrageous bias of the mainstream “news” was the glee with which The Washington Post announced, only 19 minutes after Trump’s inauguration, that impeachment proceedings against him had already begun. Having committed none of the sins of which he has since been accused, having in no way been found guilty of Russian collusion, he was already in the cross hairs of the sanctimonious Left.
Republican Matt Gaetz recently made an impassioned speech in the House accusing Democrats of repeatedly inciting their followers to violence while hypocritically responding with outrage to the violence of Jan 6. He was soundly booed. But the “conservative” sites I watch have posted dozens of videos of both Democratic politicians and members of the Media engaged in incendiary, hate-filled rants against “Republicans” that are, again, truly disgusting.
As fires raged throughout urban America last summer, Kamala Harris said “Protesters should not let up.” Afflicted with the same dementia, Nancy Pelosi said “I just don’t know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be soon.” Simpleton Chris Cuomo famously asked why B.L.M. needed to obey the law! “Conservatives” answered “It’s in the Constitution, Chris!” Don Lemon and a host of other “newscasters” made equally incendiary comments. They must be proud that “Kill Trump” is now trending on Twitter! Have any of the above been impeached, cancelled or fired? While everyone at this point knows that Facebook, Twitter and You Tube have banned Trump, dozens of intelligent, rational “conservatives” have also had their platforms cancelled. Promising to respect the Free Speech rights of its customers, Parler was recently launched only to be immediately, savagely attacked and indeed banished by the high-tech Establishment apparently convinced that it has a monopoly on the Truth. And the Fascist Idiots in charge of that Establishment have the audacity to call themselves liberals!!!!!
Having openly sanctioned the violence that plagued America last year, Pelosi has just suggested Trump might be guilty of murder for his supposed instigation of the violence of Jan 6. Her picture should appear next to the word Hypocrisy in Webster’s Dictionary.
A.O.C. has just recommended the creation of a bureaucracy to rein in the press, by which she clearly means the “conservative” press. Have you read Orwell’s “1984”?
Among those from around the world who have expressed concern with this self-evidently fascistic approach to the Principle of Free Speech are Angela Merkel of Germany and Pres. Obrador of Mexico, both of a decidedly Leftist perspective. In the States even the A.C.L.U., hardly a “conservative” group, has registered its outrage!
Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson exposed his level of intellectual sophistication and tolerance for diversity of opinion when he recently wrote: “There are millions of Americans, almost all White, almost all Republicans, who need to be de-programmed.” Nikole Hannah-Jones of the N.Y. Times, also a person of color, said they need to be “punished.” A member of the legal team at P.B.S., Michael Beller, actually suggested that children of the approximately 74 million who voted for Trump ought to be taken from their parents and sent to “re-education camps.” [In fairness to P.B.S., it fired this simpleton.]
The inevitable justification for the Left’s “moral” outrage is the notion of “hate speech.” Do I think such a thing exists? Of course, on both sides of the political divide. But inciting violence against a group based on an irrational revulsion for its “otherness” is objectively, categorically different from engaging in rational criticism of the Ideas, Values and Behavior of said group. To “conservatives” such criticism is essential to civilized progress. [“Conservatives” are ironically far more progressive than “progressives.”] But to those on the Left, any Rational valuation directed against a group deemed to be “oppressed,” no matter how valid, is denounced as Hate Speech. It is literally a formula for the elimination of Human Intelligence from political discourse. Hence the title of my opening blog and aforementioned book….i.e.,”Mindless by Design”!
A couple of months ago Twitter cancelled the account of Customs official Mark Morgan because he lauded Trump’s attempt to stem the tide of illegal immigrants across the southern border of the U.S. by building a wall. For those of you not familiar with the underlying Ideology of the Left, the rational concept of the Nation State is now considered an abomination, any effort to defend the integrity of one’s borders being just an act of cruelty. It’s something Kamala talks about all the time. Thankfully I probably won’t be around to witness the devastating effects of her agenda, should it ever be implemented, on those millions in her homeland already denied adequate housing, employment, health care and education. Pardon me for my rational [“conservative”] opinion.
[ It’s Jan.17 and I am reading that thousands of Hondurans have already set out northwards with the intent of breaching America’s southern border, their expectation being that Biden will be more welcoming than Trump. At the same time the newly elected President has said one of his first acts will be to legalize the 11 million illegals already in the country. Do Democrats not realize that this amounts to an open invitation to every person on the planet not happy with their homeland? Do they not realize the U.S. is already incapable of satisfying the basic needs of millions of its citizens? Do they not realize they can’t simply print money without causing massive inflation? Do they not realize the real world does not bend to their sentimental delusions?]
The paradox of Donald Trump is that while he is guilty of the arrogance and at times outright dishonesty with which the Left never ceases to stoke the fires of its hatred, its revulsion for him is ultimately a result of the fact that he is an unapologetic “conservative” who, unlike most simpering “conservatives” here in the West, refuses to compromise his convictions, refuses to bow before the Fascism of Political Correctness.
Newly elected head of the Conservative Party here in Canada, Erin O’Toole, recently granted an interview to The Rebel, the topic of discussion being Trudeau’s apparent infatuation with the Chinese Communist Party. Nothing of a “hateful” or incendiary nature was said, unless, of course, you share Trudeau’s infatuation. But the CBC and the Canadian Left in general skewered O’Toole for daring associate himself with Ezra’s loathsome, right-wing “hate group.” O’Toole immediately denounced The Rebel, vowing to engage in no such future interviews. Pathetically, most “conservative” politicians in the Contemporary West are unwilling to courageously defend traditional Western Values because doing so in these demented times automatically makes one a White Supremacist. Thank goodness for wonderful non-White, non-European “conservatives” like Candace Owens, Dinesh D’ Souza, Larry Elder, etc. etc., who, focused on Moral/Intellectual Substance rather than Skin Color, find such “logic” absurd.
Does Donald Trump have a right to resent those Democratic hypocrites that abused theirs authority to destroy him even before he was elected? Does he have a right to be angry that his first Impeachment was announced a mere 19 minutes into his administration? While the answer to both these questions would seem to be Yes, this hardly means I am impervious to his flaws as a human being. But as dozens of “conservative” pundits have pointed out, their support for the Republicans was based not so much on admiration for Trump as a person as on the Ideas and Values he so unequivocally defends.
I point out to Trump-hating “conservatives” here in Canada that one of Biden’s first moves will be to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline. This will entail the loss of thousands of jobs throughout North America, the squandering of millions of dollars already invested and the perpetuation of Western energy dependence on regimes utterly devoid of conscience. But, they will answer, at least we won’t have to listen to that [fill in the blank] anymore. Does that make any sense? I tell them they’re not really “conservatives” and they just glare. “Conservatism” is about Principles and Values rather than personalities, I suggest, and again they just glare. The relentless bias of the media in tandem with the relentless bias of Obama and company seems to have convinced much of the world that Donald Trump is personally responsible for the rancor that has divided his country over the last four years. But this is an astoundingly superficial if not outright idiotic interpretation of the facts.
The war on the Enlightenment Principles and Values of the West, launched by the “intellectuals” of the 19th Century, has been going on for over 200 years. Evident in the writings of the Frankfurt Theorists whose Herbert Marcuse in fact supplied one of the battle cries of the Woodstock generation [“Make love not war”], it is an Ideological offensive of which most of the “silent majority” has for decades been relatively unaware. Yes, various “conservative” intellectuals have lamented the hijacking of Western Culture and Higher Education by the half truths of Marx, but it is only recently that the results of that coup have begun to manifest themselves in all their absurdity. Peruse the N.Y. Times with your morning coffee and you will be asked to accept that a Rational Perspective is a mere Eurocentric bias of no more value than any other. At the same time, however, those peoples who failed to adopt such a perspective apparently continue to be beleaguered by poverty, disease, tribal strife, etc., not because of their Failure of Vision but because of Western Colonialism. In the narrative of the contemporary Left, Western Man is the source of all Evil and Capitalism, thought by Enlightenment Philosophers to be a vehicle to Human Freedom, is now deemed to be a form of Slavery. Of course those given to this hypothesis are Determinists who don’t actually believe in Free-Will. I’m not making this stuff up.
While the Ideals which inform the Left are eminently arguable, they have come to be imposed on our culture with the suffocating authoritarianism of Medieval Catholicism. Yes, the “silent majority” in the States managed to dominate the 80s with Ronald Reagan but he was constantly belittled in both Academia and the Mainstream Media as a simpleton who should have stuck to acting. George W. Bush was submitted to the same level of scorn, his Texas accent often used as a weapon by the “enlightened” snobs of the “educated” Left. But Donald Trump refused to put up with such abuse, indeed called out the hypocritical bias of his critics by constantly invoking the notion of “fake news.” His personal flaws notwithstanding, Trump is loathed by “liberals” because he dared defy them. He did not cause the contempt on the Left for everything “conservative.” That contempt has been gathering force for decades. He did not cause the bias of the mainstream media. That malignancy has been spreading for decades. Nor is he responsible for the violence that plagued urban America over the last year. That violence was the inevitable result of the Left’s own failure of vision, the cynical Neo-Marxist vision of a world perpetually in strife, a world from which Reason and Morality have been banished as mere weapons of Oppression.
I am not suggesting there are not White Supremacists among us. But in our utterly demented, intellectually challenged “progressive” Dystopias, citing the indisputable achievements of Western Civilization now apparently qualifies one as such. Suggesting that the culture represented by Socrates, Shakespeare and Mozart is more Civilized than that of the Indigenous of the Americas, now makes one a Racist!
Donald Trump is not the ideal representative of the values I cherish. Indeed his last minute cancellation of the Executive Order he passed at the beginning of his term by which he sought to stop retired politicians from selling their influence to the highest bidder like hookers, was as hypocritical as any of the multitude of brazenly hypocritical statements made by Democrats which I have cited in my many blogs. But Trump is nowhere near the monster the Left has made him out to be. Indeed his administration’s policies betray none of the vile inclinations relentlessly ascribed to him by his Fake News critics, a regime which sadly, intentionally, refused to publicize the many legitimate accomplishments of his presidency.
I have asked dozens of my Trump-hating acquaintances if they were aware that Morocco recently granted him its highest honor, the Order of Mohamed, for normalizing its relationship with Israel. It’s an achievement his administration had also managed for the Sudan, Bahrain and the U.A.E. They thought I was joking. While Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize seemingly just for being Black, Trump’s accomplishments in the realm of international politics have barely been acknowledged in a mainstream media so fanatically biased that it has long since ceased to realize that its bias is in fact a bias.
It is therefore likely that most amongst the Trump-hating crowd are also unaware that this aggressive, arrogant American chauvinist, constantly associated with the vilest aspects of American Imperialism, is the first President in years not to have involved his country in some new foreign military fiasco.
I am a nobody whose Blog is being read by next to no one. But should it ever gain any level of notoriety, I’m sure it will be cancelled by those High-Tech Fascists so utterly devoid of self-awareness, so incredibly stupid, that they actually see themselves as “liberals.”
