Can you believe it? In New Jersey a truck driver, Edward Durr, who spent less than $10,000 on his campaign to become a state senator, has defeated his Democratic opponent Stephen Sweeney, a twelve year holder of that office considered one of the most powerful politicians in the state. At the same time in Jersey’s gubernatorial race, the Democratic incumbent thought by the “experts” to be a shoe-in for re-election, just barely held on to his job.
The trend was unmistakable across the nation. In Seattle “law and order” Republican Ann Davison was victorious in her run for city attorney, defeating Democrat Nicole Thomas-Kennedy who had proposed ending the prosecution of misdemeanors as the first step along the road to abolishing the Police. The Left’s naive vision of human nature, the sheer stupidity of its support for policies which actually invite people to commit certain crimes, seems to have awakened a majority of Americans. It is no coincidence that 18 of the country’s 20 cities with the highest murder rates are run by Democrats!
But these obvious facts and the reaction of the American populace to them which may indeed signal the beginning of a major cultural shift, have not registered with most of the apparently brain-dead zombies of the mainstream media. MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace, whom I cited at the end of my last blog, responded to the election results in Virginia by mocking mothers who had voted Republican because of their reservations with the teaching of Critical Race Theory, insisting the theory wasn’t actually “real.” Google the subject and you will find at least ten books devoted to this apparently non-existent thesis.
Highlighting the same sort of brazen disregard for the truth, “conservative” Mark Levin recently did a piece on MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough who, on his program “Morning Joe,” defended candidate McAuliffe, insisting C.R.T. has never been taught in Virginia’s schools. And yet, Levin says, Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute produced a 2015 document from McAuliffe’s very own office when he was still governor, endorsing the introduction of the theory into the state’s educational system, specifically citing the need “to re-engineer attitudes and belief systems.” Incredibly, at a recent campaign event, according to Rufo, McAullife too insisted C.R.T. has “never been taught in Virginia” and referred to Youngkin’s attempt to make it an issue as a “racist dog whistle.”
You may have noted a certain level of schizophrenic double-speak in the Left’s response to the teaching of C.R.T. On the one hand the insistence that it had never been taught in Virginia’s schools would imply that it was an ideological bit of nonsense unworthy of that privilege. But on the other hand it is passionately defended by most on the Left, the aforementioned Joy Reid of CNN claiming that the White mothers of Virginia who voted for Youngkin simply wanted to banish the issue of race altogether. As always, the charge of racism used to disable any honest discussion of substance, any honest discussion of the utterly biased, Neo-Marxist version of history spun by Kendi and company.
In a previous blog I discussed the inaccuracy of Socialist Herbert Marcuse’s denunciation of Western European Man as the greatest villain in all of history. It is the fiction that has increasingly come to dominate our world since the Sixties. It is the fiction that informs the Left’s aversion to Freedom and Capitalism. It is the fiction that most of today’s “intellectuals” embrace as a religion. While Obama’s administration was certainly informed by that fiction, it is only under Biden, a puppet-president clearly being manipulated by anti-Western radicals, that the authoritarianism and ultimate stupidity of Collectivism or Socialism, call it what you will, has become apparent to the general public. Perhaps the Virginia election, reviled by the Left as just another victory for White Supremacy, spells the beginning of the end of the hatred and authoritarian B.S. relentlessly spewed by the “compassionate” yet pathologically intolerant Left.
