The “Big Lie”

Over and over and over again I have read and watched smirking, condescending references from Leftist commentators to the “big lie” believed by the gullible followers of Donald Trump that the 2020 election was stolen from him. Life is complicated. Trump is hardly my ideal politician though if I were an American citizen forced to choose tomorrow between him and the simpleton presently running the country, I would unequivocally choose him. Moreover the glib dismissal of the very notion that the 2020 election might have been tainted is itself a product of the bias and hypocrisy of those who dismiss it, those simply not interested in any facts which do not further their political agenda.

A Rasmussen poll reveals that 55% of Americans believe that activists and politicians on both the Left and Right would gladly steal an election if they thought they could get away with it. Only 57% of the voting population believes Biden actually won in 2020. Of those who feel that electoral reform is an absolute must, 50% believe the rules must be tightened so as to eliminate voter fraud while only 38% concur with the Democratic push to make it not only easier to vote but, self-evidently, easier to cheat.

It is common sense rather than racism that informs the Republican push to have voting rules strengthened rather than weakened. The Rasmussen poll showed that only 26% of the American public thought the right candidate had been declared victor in both 2016 and 2020. This suggests tremendous skepticism about a process that is fundamental to the integrity of any healthy Democracy. Democrats Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Stacey Abrams all claim to have been robbed in recent years. But with typical hypocrisy, the mainstream media, while not unsympathetic to each of the above, has treated Trump’s allegation as the ravings of an egotistical, dictatorial madman. Joe Biden said Trump had created “a web of lies” about the 2020 election. Are Clinton, Sanders and Abrams also liars, Joe? Certainly Trump is not without his flaws, but shouldn’t the obvious loss of faith in America’s electoral processes rather than loathing for a particular individual be the primary motivation of a free, unbiased press?

Various States have conducted investigations into the seeming improprieties and anomalies witnessed on Nov. 3 and 4, 2020. Unfortunately, given the rancor presently dividing the Left and Right, the resultant rulings can hardly be trusted one way or the other. But while it is possible, given the fanaticism of so many in the anti-Trump crowd, that he was the victim of election day fraud, there is no doubt whatsoever that the biases of the legacy media entailed a prolonged, inarguable act of larceny that began the day he became the Republican candidate.

Do you think Biden would have won this relatively close election had MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc., daily, relentlessly, vilified the crass sale of his influence through his son to various enterprises in the Ukraine and China? [It has been revealed that the family received approximately 31 million dollars from Chinese sources over the course of just a few years.] Do you think he would have won had those networks scoured his past, as they did Trump’s, for evidence of his moral failings. As I have discussed elsewhere, he was forced to abandon his 1988 run for president when it was discovered he had both lied about his academic achievements and plagiarized the speeches of others on more than one occasion. Given the bias of the mainstream media, a bias which the general public is only now beginning to acknowledge, I have no problem asserting without hesitation that the 2020 election was stolen from the eminently flawed Mr. Trump. While the many honest, rational “conservative” podcasts I have been watching online for years were mocked relentlessly on CNN as hotbeds of misinformation, more and more seem to be realizing that it is CNN that is in fact compulsively dishonest. Brian Stelter was just recently pictured in a grade 8 classroom lecturing the kids on how to spot misinformation. The online explosion of mockery was well-deserved, as is the fact that CNN’s ratings are in free fall!
