Last month, former Black WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes made several comments about White WNBA player Caitlin Clark which many deemed to be overtly racist. Seemingly plagued by guilt, she has since retracted some of her comments. But while admitting to their impropriety, she has adamantly insisted that Black people simply can’t be Racists.
This assertion, I believe, is idiotic. While I would hardly suggest that the inane comment of one individual proves the absurdity of an entire world-view, an opinion piece in the L.A. Times of Mar. 10 by Clyde W. Ford , an esteemed Black “intellectual,” does seem to reflect the pervasive dementia of the contemporary Left. His article in entitled: “Sheryl Swoopes is right: Black people can’t be racist.”
Ford frankly admits that while Blacks may be “prejudiced” against Whites simply because of the color of their skin, they cannot be considered “racists” because they do not have the power to exercise their loathing with any degree of effectiveness. Power rather than Truth or Morality is clearly the defining feature of his ethos. He is, that is to say, a Neo-Marxist for whom the “oppressed” are always innocent, no matter the ignorance or self-indulgence of their views and behavior. The result of this Leftist tenet is a mindless sense of Entitlement amongst those who conveniently don the mantle of Victimhood as a means of escaping personal responsibility for their lives. It is the sense of Entitlement that led BLM to destroy over 2 billions dollars worth of property in 2020. It is the sense of Entitlement that has led to a massive explosion of thievery amongst the poor throughout N. America over the last few years. It entails an embrace of Moral Nihilism which is ironically reflected in the Left’s canonization of career criminal George Floyd as a symbol of its “values.”
Clyde W. Ford is an award winning author of several books. As a member of a group called Humanities Washington, he hosts a program entitled “Let’s Talk About Race.” He is, in other words, not some fringe Leftist loon, but a respected member of the mainstream Left which is apparently comfortable with the ludicrous notion that only White people are actually capable of Evil!
