Dan Bongino was thrilled to report the massive Texas victory of Republican Mayra Flores in the special election recently held in Congressional District 34 whose predominantly Hispanic population has traditionally voted Democrat. The identity politics used by Democrats to convince Blacks and Hispanics that they must vote for them has given way, Bongino asserts, to a rational appraisal of the actual merit of the policies of the two political parties. The same pattern, he points out, is evident in South Florida where Cuban ex-patriots are no longer convinced that the socialist policies they just recently escaped are the answer to their needs.
Elon Musk says his vote for Flores represents the first time he has ever backed a Republican candidate! Of course the Left hates him as a turncoat. But for “conservatives” his evolution is but another example of the growing awareness both among high profile persons such as he and vast portions of the general public, of the absurdity of sentimental “progressivism,” that religious dementia which wantonly saw fit to open America’s southern border not only to a host of hard core drug smugglers but to thousands stricken with Covid, the Democrats’ “compassion,” apparently, impervious to the welfare of their own citizens.
I realize those on the Left are motivated by the best of intentions. But sheer sentiment is demonstrably powerless against the complexities of Reality. Hence, I suppose, the cliche that the road to hell is paved with good intentions!
