On Wed., Sept 29, Kamala Harris spoke to students at George Mason U. in Fairfax, Virginia. In a question and answer session following her address, she was assailed by a young female of Yemeni/Iranian descent who was outraged that the Democrats had chosen to continue giving financial aid to the state of Israel, a state clearly guilty of “ethnic genocide.” The two points Kamala proceeded to make are truly disturbing. She answered as follows:
“This is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your truth cannot be suppressed and it must be heard.”
Followed by:
“Our goal should be unity, but not uniformity…….True unity is everyone in the room has a voice. And then we see where that ends up in terms of a healthy debate on the issues.”
The second statement is hypocrisy of the first order! Kamala and the Democrats are in no way interested in rational debate inasmuch as it must inevitably reveal the intellectual bankruptcy of their basic assumptions. Hence their inevitable attempts to shut down such debate by simply dismissing all who oppose them as Racists. If you believe in electoral integrity, you’re a Racist! If you believe your country has a right to defend its borders, you’re a Racist! When Trump was banished from various social networks, did the Democrats defend his right to speak? Of course not! They are in no way interested in “healthy debate” and Kamala’s little speech to her anti-Semitic inquisitor is comically disingenuous.
But what of her truly “woke” assertion that everyone has a right to express “their truth.” Not the Truth, but Their Truth! What might appear to be a compassionate attempt to empower a member of an “oppressed” minority, is in fact an endorsement of the moral/intellectual relativism that is destroying our Civilization. Whereas traditional Western intellectuals tended to see Man’s quest for The Truth as a fundamental existential obligation, “progressives,” as epitomized by Kamala, seem perfectly happy with a planet of whining, self-centered egotists addicted to “truths” utterly divorced from Reality.
Last Dec. several Black residents of a suburban community 25 miles from Atlanta had their mailboxes inundated with letters from one claiming to be a member of the KKK, letters in which he threatened to burn their houses to the ground while perhaps slaughtering them. Police investigation ultimately revealed the culprit to be a Black female!
Meanwhile, a few days ago, a former Black employee of Atlanta’s Emory U. was arrested for attempting to discredit its White student population by surreptitiously defacing a campus building with Swastikas and the N. word!
Perhaps he was inspired by the Black individual at Parkway Central High in St. Louis who, just a couple of weeks ago, decorated the boys’ washroom with the message: Hope all Black people die! That it was a hoax based on a revulsion for White people did not stop Keith Marty, superintendent of the Parkway School District, from expressing his admiration for the many White students who chose to boycott their classes out of sympathy for their Black friends. Yes, so demented is the “progressive” mindset that even when Whites are the victims of hate crimes, it is mandatory that they admit their guilt!
But this is nothing new. Back in April, for example, Michigan’s Albion College was plagued with anti-Semitic graffiti by one claiming to be a member of the KKK who in fact turned out to be another disaffected Black. No doubt he was giving expression to “his truth.” No doubt the young student assailing the Vice-President with the charge that the Israelis are genocidal monsters was speaking “her truth.” But The Truth and grossly simplistic, factually bereft, pathologically biased renditions of Reality, are not one and the same. It is a “subtlety” apparently beyond the comprehension of “progressives” such as Kamala for whom every man’s truth, however delusional, is worthy of consideration.
