Their Duplicity is but the Tip of the Iceberg

The notion that the Internet is a cesspool of Misinformation while our news agencies and political institutions deal in nothing but the truth, is absurd. The moral and intellectual diversity of the species is reflected everywhere.

On Mar. 26, Katherine Maher, CEO of America’s National Public Radio, responded to various Republicans Congressmen convinced that NPR, which is publicly funded and presumably politically neutral, was in fact seriously biased in its political coverage. The centre of focus was the network’s stifling of the Hunter Biden laptop story as the 2020 election approached, a story which very well may have cost Joe Biden the presidency. To Representative Michael Cloud of Texas, Maher admitted: “NPR acknowledges we were mistaken in failing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story more aggressively and sooner.” But an examination of past comments reveals she has Neo-Marxist inclinations, supports Critical Race Theory and has in fact said the U.S. is “addicted to white supremacy.” The notion that NPR made a “mistake” in not investigating Hunter’s laptop is absurd. This was a conscious decision designed to insure that the Republicans did not win the impending election. James Comer of Kentucky concluded succinctly: “NPR is propaganda. People that listen to NPR are totally misinformed on the truth.” Quite the departure from the never ending Leftist rant that the multiplicity of viewpoints available online are somehow more dangerous than the consciously pursued lies of NPR!

On April 3, Matt Vespa of Townhall Daily published an article exposing the biases of another institution which most Americans have no doubt felt is above reproach. On Oct. 14, 2020, the day the N.Y. Post published its article on the incriminating contents of Hunter’s laptop, an FBI agent casually mentioned in a conference call that the story was in fact true. And yet that very same day the Bureau issued a “gag order” prohibiting its members from acknowledging that fact. Clearly the agency, during the Biden administration at least, was less interested in upholding the Law than in promoting a particular political viewpoint. But that bias, as exhibited also on NPR, is the bias that has dominated Western Culture for decades now. While there is of course a great deal of nonsense available online, the widespread push for censorship by the Left [i.e., cancel culture] is but a transparent attempt by that ludicrously self-righteous sector to defend its own ideologically infected form of “misinformation.”

Here in Canada, the CBC is conspicuously biased in its political commentary. So also are such major newspapers as the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail. Being a Boomer, most of my “friends” share the biases of the Woodstock Generation, biases consistently reinforced by the aforementioned sources. Rational discourse with them is therefore difficult inasmuch as they are utterly uninformed of facts not consistent with their Leftist bias. Should I suggest that Trump, for all his flaws, has been celebrated by many Females and Blacks for having treated them with the utmost respect, they simply dismiss me as a victim of disinformation. But why would they do otherwise when every picture published by every mainstream media outlet, shows him to be nothing more than a sneering, arrogant, mindless jerk? The biases of America’s NPR and FBI, in other words, are but reflections of a bias that dominates most “progressive” Western Nations, making rational political discourse of the complex issues before us virtually impossible. And ironically, as I’ve said over and over, those responsible for this situation see themselves as the champions of Democracy!
