Republicans dominated yesterday’s election in the state of Virginia which has recently tended to vote Democrat, its new Governor, Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor all being Republicans. Winsome Sears, who took the latter office, is apparently the first Black Woman elected to a such a position in the formerly Confederate state.
“Conservative” pundits attributed the swing to the right to the failure of several Leftist policies both nationally and in Virginia itself. To anyone not blinded by bias, the policies in question are self-evident. No doubt McAuliffe’s declaration that parents of the students in his state’s public schools were not entitled to question the decisions of its various school boards had a good deal to do with Youngkin’s victory. It would seem a significant number of White women who had previously voted Democrat changed their allegiance. But as a recent poll showed, 71% of all Americans are not happy with Biden’s “woke” America. So why would social media explode with accusations that the results of the election were in fact a victory for tyranny?
I shan’t bore you with dozens of citations. A couple of examples will perhaps serve to illustrate the mentality of the contemporary Left. The brilliant Cher, ignoring Winsome Sears’ identity as an immigrant Black woman, saw the Virginia election results as an endorsement of a “Whites only club.” The difference between Democrats and Republicans, she posted, is the “Difference between Democracy and Dictatorship.” So for Cher, when the majority doesn’t agree with her, Democracy has somehow been violated!
Bishop Talbert Swan, a Black member of the NAACP, in response to the news that the majority of White females had swung to the right, posted: “White women did their duty and supported White supremacy.” It was about race and nothing more he opined, echoing the simplistic response of the Left to every contemporary political issue in its attempt to bludgeon all White people into submission. It is perhaps worth noting that Swan was banned from Twitter in 2018 for “hateful conduct” such as his assertion that he could not support Black “conservative” Candace Owens because he was on a “no coon diet.”
In all fairness, one must grant that even some of the Ideologues at CNN finally found the courage to confront realities which their “news” network has consistently ignored, Van Jones and David Axelrod suggesting, in response to the Virginia election, that a good many Democrats were in fact “annoying and offensive,” “out of touch” with the needs of average Americans and given to piously pontificating on what they ought to believe and how they ought to live. It is one of the insights that informs these more than 200 blogs, an insight that exposes the basically authoritarian nature of the contemporary Left. And yet Cher and Talbert Swan in consort with dozens of other simpletons such as MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace and CNN’s Black racist Joy Reid have continued to spew the very sort of venom that led to the election results they ironically seem so eager to blame on everyone but themselves.
