Wake Up, Canada!

Among his justifications for invoking the Emergencies Act, Justin Trudeau cited an early February CBC report which suggested a good deal of the funding for the Freedom Convoy had come from foreign sources seeking to undermine the Liberal government. Pushing the same narrative, the Hamilton Spectator, which is owned by the conspicuously biased Toronto Star, published a cartoon by Graeme MacKay showing Putin, Trump and an individual sporting a confederate flag pulling the strings on a horde of truckers who appear to be no more than puppets.

In early March, having been informed by Go Fund Me that 88% of the support given to the truckers was Canadian in origin, the CBC removed the article from its web page. So the ever sanctimonious mainstream media concocted a conspiracy theory with no evidence whatsoever which led the power-mad Liberals to invoke a War Measures Act against a conspicuously peaceful horde, while each of the above never cease ranting of the need to censor the conspiracy theories and tyrannical impulses of others.

Canada’s Charter demands any invocation of the Emergencies Act be followed by an inquiry into the legitimacy of its use. As the Toronto Sun recently revealed, the judge appointed to oversee the inquiring committee is a long time Liberal loyalist. Rex Murphy wryly pointed out in the National Post that the chances that Trudeau will be found guilty of anything whatsoever are zero to none. The inquiry is a farce. Our Liberal government is a farce. And sadly, Western Democracies, poisoned by Ideologues incapable of tolerating any point of view other than their own, are little more than parodies of what a Democracy really ought to be.
