On Jan. 30, Canada’s Epoch Times posted a video on Charlie Kirk which included interviews with several individuals who knew him and others who have been subjected to the same sort of hatred which led to his death. It’s title was: Truth Under Fire: The Framing of Charlie Kirk.
Among his most ardent admirers was Benny Johnson, a conservative who shared his world-view. Johnson insists that Charlie firmly believed Rational Debate to be the only solution to the hatred that seems to have metastasized throughout the Left for all those who do not share its values. Andrew Kolvet of Turning Point U.S.A., the group founded by Charlie in 2012, insists anyone who knew him would attest to the fact that he was one of the kindest, most generous, gracious and good natured individuals they had ever met. Indeed the Epoch Times video shows Charlie engaging university students that have called him a Racist, White Supremacist, etc., who simply turn away in disgust when he asks them nicely to validate their opinions with facts!
Threats to the lives of conservative commentators are commonplace in today’s sick, sick culture. Benny Johnson says he and his family have been subjected to multiple such threats. Andy Ngo, who almost died a few years ago as a result of an attack by an Antifa fanatic, says he has reported several other distressing threats which have led to no arrests whatsoever! Robby Starbuck, another conservative active on social media, has apparently experienced the same dementia. The point expressed by all of the above is that this Cult of Hatred is the natural result of a world-view which, lacking any Rational, Empirical basis, has no other option but to revile its opponents with slurs. Hence the ludicrous denunciation of Charlie Kirk as a Racist simply because he pointed out that an inordinate percentage of crime in the U.S. was perpetrated by people of color, an assertion that was 100% true! Hence this blog entitled “The Politics of Hate” based on the hundreds of newspaper clippings I have collected which recklessly weaponize the Left’s cliched list of insults without ever confronting the rational basis of the arguments of their conservative opponents. We are talking here not of Left-wing extremists, but of the Mainstream Press!
