On Mar. 15 The Blaze published an article by Iranian born entrepreneur and philanthropist Noosheen Hashemi in which she explained why she recently abandoned the Democratic Party. Indeed the title of her essay specifies it was “to keep my sanity.”
A resident of California, a State radically inclined to the Left, Noosheen was obviously already questioning her political affiliation when Donald Trump’s State of the Union address apparently pushed her over the edge. The determining moment came, she says, when Trump asked his listeners to stand if they believe their government’s primary focus ought to be the welfare of law-abiding American citizens rather than illegal aliens, and no Democrats stood! What she has concluded, she says, is that the contemporary Left “confuses caring with governing.” Her comment reflects the very theme of these blogs, which is that the Left is basically brain-dead!
Noosheen proceeds to give examples of this fact. Voter integrity in “progressive” California, she says, does not seem to be a priority. Apparently the integrity of elections is not essential to a functioning Democracy! At the same time she finds the Left’s willingness to exclude Parents from the care of their children when Gender issues are involved, utterly repugnant, a violation of the Personal Freedoms that used to be considered integral to any healthy Democracy. While I shall not detail every aspect of California’s “woke” policies which she finds absurd, it is encouraging that one who clearly does not fit the stereotype of a Right-Wing Fanatic constantly invoked by the Left, has chosen to leave the Left due to its Authoritarian, anti-Democratic, neo-Marxist tendencies. One can only hope that Reason ultimately defeats Sentiment, and that the peoples of the White, Western World come to realize that the Ideas and Values of contemporary Conservatism represent their only hope for a truly Civilized future!
