I realize that the woke inanity of the BBC which I am about to cite is not typical of the mainstream Left. But it does represent the “logistical” process evident throughout that political perspective.
As pointed out by Matt Vespa of Townhall on Sept. 30, the BBC recently published an article stating that exotic fingernail art is generally linked to the “black, Latino and Asian communities,” and the tendency of White Women to leave their nails unpainted is somewhat suspicious. Indeed it quoted beauty journalist Kristina Rudolfo who said that the trend was obviously “malicious” and intended to perpetuate “white supremacist standards of beauty.”
While the BBC is being widely criticized from both sides of the political aisle for this outrageous accusation, it is actually merely engaging in the sort of Identity Politics that has come to define the contemporary Left, a perspective that sees everything in terms of Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation, etc..
Suggest that Christianity is infinitely more evolved than Islam as it exists in various parts of the world, and you are not stating an Obvious Fact but engaging in Islamophobia! Suggest that Trans Individuals born with penises ought not to be allowed to compete against Females in athletic competitions, and you are not defending Women’s Rights but merely venting your Transphobia! Suggest that Western Nations have the right to secure their borders in defense of the Rational Construct of the Nation State, and you are not talking common sense but merely spewing Racism!
I was recently reminded of a statement made by Socrates over 2000 years ago. It reads: “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the losers.” Incredibly prophetic! Multiple contemporary “intellectuals” have claimed Post-Enlightenment, Western Man’s embrace of Reason to be but a Racially motivated Ideological Bias. Really, you fools? Is there any hope of productive human discourse and genuine progress without the guiding light of Reason?
