The term “terrorist” has obvious moral implications. In its devotion to Inclusiveness, Canada’s national broadcaster refuses to allow its reporters to use that term unless they are quoting others. It is a policy perfectly in keeping with the moral degeneracy of the contemporary Left. Given that the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 massacre is just around the corner, CBC news director Basem Bashra issued a memorandum last week to the network’s journalists reminding them not to refer to that day’s events as a “terrorist attack.” Certain hijackings, they were to report, had simply led “to passenger jet crashes in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Manhattan.” Yes, almost 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives, but the fact that Osama bin Laden proudly took credit for the massacre in no way indicated it was a consciously perpetrated act of “terrorist” aggression! Truly ridiculous!
In response to the outrage expressed by the Canadian public as well as Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and America’s FBI, the CBC decided that 9/11 might in fact be referred to as a terrorist event. That it needed to be coerced into doing so is hardly surprising to Canadian conservatives who have long realized that this federally funded network is less interested in the News than its overtly Leftist Bias! As that bias compels it to see the losers in any conflict as mere innocent victims, the CBC naturally empathizes with the Palestinians in today’s Middle Eastern conflict rather than the Israelis, the champions of the only tolerant, liberal Democracy in the region. While no one is suggesting all of Netanyahu’s moves are beyond reproach, the contemporary Left has in fact become significantly anti-Semitic. And of course it has also become anti-White, anti-Western, anti-American, etc., etc.. Hence the CBC’s absurd reluctance to refer to 9/11 as a horrific, terrorist abomination.
The bias of the CBC permeates the majority of mainstream news outlets here in “progressive” Canada. This country’s susceptibility to the “woke” inanities of the Left is no doubt somewhat responsible for Trump’s belief that Canada is barely worth considering as a legitimate Nation. But while I share his disdain for many aspects of contemporary Canada, we remain a functioning Democracy perfectly capable of rejecting the mistakes of the past. CBC viewership is in decline. Many of my liberal friends have become increasingly disenchanted with the failures of our Judiciary, the mindless aggressiveness of Trans Bullies, the intellectual pollution of our Universities, unregulated Immigration, etc., etc.. Quite possibly Pierre Poilievre will be our next Prime Minister, able to defend the Values of the West in conjunction with a Conservative U.S. President blessed with the temperament of Ronald Reagan rather than that of the buffoon presently in charge of The White House.
