The paradox of the Self-Righteous is that they are almost invariably wrong in submitting to their arrogance. While Trump’s aggressive manner of pursuing his agenda frequently seems to entail a disregard for America’s Constitutional Protocols, it is perhaps a reaction to the very same disregard manifested almost daily by the “enlightened” Left.
As reported by The Blaze on May 12, last month the state of Virginia approved a constitutional amendment entitling its General Assembly to redesign [i.e., gerrymander] its political map. Whereas the present configuration, according to The Blaze, has resulted in the Democrats winning 6 districts to the Republicans’ 5, the new map would almost certainly result in the former winning 10 of the state’s 11 congressional seats in the upcoming mid-term elections. The state’s governor is a Democrat, Abigail Spanberger, and she, supported by individuals such as Barack Obama, had apparently engaged in a concerted campaign to convince the public that there was something egregiously unjust in the fact that the Democrats held only a one seat advantage in Virginia.
Virginia’s Supreme Court, the record shows, has maintained a level of integrity devoid of any distinct bias towards either the Left or the Right. Yet when it ruled on May 8 by a vote of 4 to 3 that the gerrymandering initiative pursued by the Democrats was unconstitutional, members of that party responded aggressively. As is their right, they have chosen to appeal the decision before the country’s Supreme Court. Yet as that move is not likely to be successful, it has been suggested that the State lower the retirement age of its justices so as to allow it to cram its own Supreme Court with Democrats.
As I have said repeatedly, in a healthy Democracy the Judiciary’s primary allegiance must be to the Rule of Law rather than any political bias. This effort by Virginia’s Democrats to manipulate its judiciary in order to advance its own political agenda, is truly disgusting. While there is some merit to the mainstream media’s never-ending rant that Donald Trump represents a threat to the country’s Democratic protocols, that same media ought perhaps to admit that the “progressives” it supports are perhaps an even greater threat, given their mindlessly self-righteous lust for power!
