As a Boomer who got a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature in the 1970s, I can assert unequivocally that Politics never reared its head in the classroom back then. Two of my professors were Asian Indians who loved what they were teaching and never for an instant suggested it had been imposed on them by their British Overlords! The beauty and brilliance of the literature was clearly what motivated them! A July 25 entry on Not the Bee, however, illustrates how Leftist Politics has now come to utterly corrupt our so-called Institutions of Higher Learning!
On the post in question, Ariel David, founder of Upward News, recounts the irony of the fact that while he had been raised by Soviet Refugees who never stopped citing the failures of Communism, he nevertheless graduated from college a devoted Socialist convinced that Capitalism is oppressive and America pervasively evil. Still a young man, he obviously recovered from his indoctrination very quickly and in 2020, motivated by what he saw as the insanity of the BLM riots, began on Instagram to try and expose the brazen biases of both the mainstream media and the U.S. educational system. In the following statement he succinctly summarizes the “indoctrination machine” to which he had been subjected: “One narrative. Every channel. Every day. On television, in the papers, in the college classrooms, in the public schools from elementary to high school. The indoctrination had been working on me since I was six, and succeeded when I was twenty-one.”
In Upward News, Mr. David is clearly intent on telling the whole truth on each and every issue, rather than simply echoing the half truths mindlessly reiterated by the brain-dead Left. Google him, however, and you will find him consistently described as one of a Right Wing Bias. As I have said in previous blogs, the terms Left and Right are misleading inasmuch as the Conservatism to which I subscribe is of the Rational Center. There is nothing biased, that is to say, in the belief that while Canada’s Residential Schools were obviously tainted by a certain degree of racial arrogance, they also blessed thousands of their Indigenous students with educations which radically improved the quality of their lives! While this is undeniably true, it is regularly cited as an example of a “criminal denialism” here in “progressive” Canada. Such is the insanity, Ariel David insists, which has come to dominate our contemporary culture! Such is the one-sided, anti-White, anti-Capitalist bias that has come to be accepted as the unequivocal truth here in the suicidal West!
